    On April 30th, 2018, I purchased a new AC unit for my home in the amount of $5488.00 from ****** Heating & Cooling of Lakeland, FL. The warranty on the unit was for 5 years and 10 years on select parts. I agreed with ****** for them to do yearly maintenance calls to keep the warranty intact. On June 12th, 2023, I noticed my home was not cooling properly. I called on June 13th and scheduled an appointment for the next day. The technician determined that there was a leak in the system, and a technician would have to come out to do a leak test. I agreed to have him put refrigerant in to get the unit to cool temporarily. I paid $204 for 3 pounds. He stated it could take hours or days for the unit to lose the coolant. I paid $363 for that service call. On June 14th, a technician came out to do a leak test and determined it was in the evaporator coil, which was covered under my warranty and the cost to install the part would be $780, which i agreed to, I paid him $118 for the leak test and he stated it would be 3 to 5 business days for the part to come in. Afterwards I called and spoke with Elliot, the dispatcher regarding why it would take so long for the part to arrive. During our conversation, he apparently checked on his computer and then advised me that the part was on back order and it could be days or months before the part would come in. I asked if he could find a compatible part to install, and he said unfortunately, no. The only thing he offered to do was that they would come out to see if it could be welded, but there was no guarantee with that and it would cost more money if they could weld it. He offered me as a one time courtesy to come top off the refrigerant at no cost. I felt after considering all my options that I was going to have to purchase a whole new unit from another company, which i did. ****** could not honor my warranty and came up with no solution to my problem. I had a new unit installed on June 17th for $4350. I'm asking for $3570.

    We had Thorpe Heating and cooling send out a Technician as our AC unit wasn’t turning on . So initial charge was 129$ to stop our. Then they wanted a maintenance fee for 159$ which my parents gave. Also gave him 100 down towards a new board should we have decided to go that way. In the end they got 436 $ and only refunded 75$ . That is totally taken advantage of my 88 year old mother and 92 year old father. How do they come to 75$ refund. The technician was here for 2 hours and in the end because we didn’t want to purchase an Ac unit from them . I would not give any money to Thorpe upfront cause they will milk you. Funny thing is the unit we had we purchased from them about 10 years ago. Again they refunded 75$. And at the very least should have returned the 100$ that would have went towards new board. They penalized Senior citizens and totally manipulated them . I am gonna file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau today as well. They tryed to hope we would buy a unit from them. So sad that Thorpe has no integrity whatsoever . Again don’t ever give Thorpe money in advance as they will take every penny they can get. This review had to be done to protect others that would even consider Thorpe Hearing and Cooling . Disappointed in the way that they took total 110% plus advantage of the elderly. Again only 75$ returned and we didn’t even order board. So insulting and still in disbelief about how they took advantage of my parents. Now I must file with Better Business Bureau and please everyone even considering Thorpe make sure you dot your I’s and cross your T’s . Worst misleading experience ever with a AC company. Protect yourself when it comes to Thorpe
