I brought this truck in to Ok Tire on July 6th 2024, telling them that this was an old truck and that we just wanted to make it last another year and it was not worth putting money into it. I brouth it to get Spring Fixed ( on driver rear side) and said that we had a brake leak in the system somewhere. They are now charging me 3500$ for a truck with no brakes, some stuff done that was never asked for, a charge to diagnose of 139.00$ (that was never explained to me and never have I paid this before) a misc charge or 97$ for lube, nuts and bolts but the oil change that they did (why would they do that when they can't fix the brakes) and nuts and bolts are charged seperately in every section of the bill. I have circled what I am willing to pay for as that was what I asked for. They are keeping our truck in their "jail". They called us at least 5 times because they did not find the problem with the brakes, then tell me I needed brake pads etc. They then call to tell me that to have brakes I would need too pay 7100$. I ****** explained to the condescending manager that if the truck had been diagnosed properly that we would have not got anything done to it at all. It is very hard to communicate with this manager as he does not see a problem with charging us 7100$ if we want a driveable truck. He sees nothing wrong with this situation. I communicate by email now as I want everything in writing. They are not quick to respond. What they are doing is wrong and we will not stand for it and now they are keeping the truck hostage.

    Business Response

    Date: 19/08/2024

    Good morning

I have received the letter in the mail today and responding as requested.

On August 7th, the vehicle left our lot at approximately 4:30pm. We contacted the police at that time assuming it was stolen as no communication was made informing of pick up or payment was made. I personally followed up with the client the day after. She has confirmed it was not stolen and that she picked it up. Therefore confirming pick up of unit without any forms of payment.

As this has become a civil matter, I'm limited to providing details any this time. All forms of communication has stopped, and will resume with the necessary authorities going forward.

I appreciate you time in this matter,

Re:Misrepresentation in Your Letter to the Better Business Bureau (BBB)

I acknowledge receipt of your response to my complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). However, I must address several discrepancies and inaccuracies presented in your letter.
Firstly, I did, in fact, pick up my vehicle on August 7, 2024, as stated. At the time of collection, a member of your staff was standing near the vehicle, which was left unsecured in your parking lot. It is evident that you were aware of my vehicles retrieval, as you provided my name to the police when you contacted them telling them that I stole my own vehicle. Furthermore, I had explicitly informed you over the phone that I would not be paying for services as we would now have to pay 7100$ when your quote was inthe amount of 3500$ with my brakes fixed.
Subsequently, you contacted me with an updated amount, claiming that $3,500 worth of work had already been completed, and that an additional $3600 would be required. Despite multiple requests, I have yet to receive this updated quote in writing.
On August 8th, during our conversation, you were fully aware that I had taken possession of my vehicle, yet you feigned ignorance and questioned me about its whereabouts. This directly contradicts the statements you made to law enforcement officers, thereby calling into question the integrity of your communications.
Your letter to the BBB mentions that YOU have ceased all communication regarding this matter.  However, the unresolved issue of the $7,100, the escalation of the repair costs, particularly without proper authorization and in contradiction of our initial agreement, is unacceptable.
It was clearly communicated to you that this was an older vehicle, and I had no intention of investing significant money into repairs unless absolutely necessary. Your failure to accurately diagnose the vehicle's issues and your refusal to take responsibility for these errors is concerning and unprofessional.
I urge you to provide the requested quote immediately and address the inconsistencies in your handling of this matter. Failure to do so may result in further action.  I said that I would send an etransfer for the work that we approved, I will do so as soon as I received the written quote for $7100.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
    Sincerely,

    France ********
