I placed a call to Wolverine Automotive Ltd. (the auto mechanic shop) on December (Dec) 12th, 2022 explaining that my car was leaking oil. They offered me an appointment for Dec 19th at 8 AM but also stated that I could do a vehicle and key drop-off the night before which I did. A work order was drawn up for me for labor and service. The auto mechanic shop claimed that the oil leak was due to a faulty oil pressure switch. I gave the go-ahead for all services minus the oil change as I had my oil and filter changed the week before. I got a call on Dec 22nd that my car was ready to be picked up. I paid for the work done (totaling over 1400) and drove my car home. While I left the shop, I was told that if I noticed any oil leak, I should bring the car right back. To my surprise, when I drove my car to work the next day, I noticed the car was still leaking oil. There was a pool of oil when I got off the car at work and there was also a trail of oil droplets to my car. I called the auto mechanic shop on Dec 23rd and explained the issue. They told me to bring the car down to the shop and I was given a ride back to work. They called me 2 hours later stating that they "ran" the car and could not find any oil leak which was odd because when I dropped off the car at the parking lot in the auto mechanic shop, there was an obvious pool of oil just underneath the vehicle which they confirmed on the phone. The auto mechanic shop asked me to come and pick up my car and bring it back to the shop on Dec 27th. On Dec 27th, I was told to come back on Dec 28th as they were short-staffed. On Dec 28th, I received an email entailing a work order of over $1400 to fix the same issue they failed to address the first time. I expressed my concern about the new charge as I had paid in full for work that was incomplete. The shop has opted not to finish the job but pay a refund. I want a full refund for the labor and diagnostic costs (plus tax) paid on Dec 22nd which comes to $990. $188 is owed.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/01/2023

    .Good afternoon,

     As I stated in the
email correspondence after you picked up your vehicle, we should have explained
that there was a possibility that there were 2 oil leaks on your vehicle, and
we had the parts to fix the highest one on the engine first.  Because oil doesn’t run uphill it seemed a
good place to start the repair.  When you
picked up your vehicle, we said to monitor for oil leaks that too would mean
that we figured there was multiple leaks. Also, the extreme cold weather that
we were having at the time was the reason that we couldn’t duplicate the oil
leak in the shop and why it would have leaked on you after sitting over night. We
did bring your vehicle in 2 more times at no cost to you and were finally able
to find the source of the other oil leak. Like I said before, I am sorry that
we didn’t communicate the process to you well enough to avoid this and as a
token of that I did provide you a partial refund.  We did however repair an oil leak on your
vehicle. Just not all the oil leaks.
