A little less than a year ago, I began a project with the contractor. They were contracted to build a breezeway and a shed/deck off the back of a garage/bonus room. I am pleased with the breezeway although the heat duct was never run (but we agreed to a price reduction to get another party to do it). The shed has a roof with a very low pitch. I requested a rubber roof by used to ensure it didn't leak. **** (owner) crossed it out and assured me shingles would be sufficient. It wasn't. On May 29th, 2021, I notified **** that the roof was leaking. He has sent over his subcontractors on several occasions to stop the leak with roofing cement and other products that he assured me would work. It has not. The shed I contracted him to build still leaks. The insulation, pegboard and sheetrock are getting damaged and I am concerned that mold might form. In addition, the exterior molding is in the snow, the exterior of the home is spotted with the material he tried to spread over the shingles and there is still construction trash on the ground. Its a mess, When I reach out to him, he tries to push me off to one of his subcontractors but that sub doesn't have the authority to fix it correctly. **** has not be by my property in about 5-6 months. I am frustrated and do not know where to turn.One final note is that I still owe him $3000 to complete the job. I have withheld it until the project is satisfactorily completed. My biggest concern is if I hire another contractor to repair the issue, it will cost a lot more than $3,000.
