My parents, now deceased had been loyal customers to Safeco since 1970 regarding their home owner insurance policies. In those days, and probably for 30 years, Safeco was an honest, ethical company, customer service-oriented based in *******, **********. However, things have since then, and the way Safeco handles their business is less than ethical. In the period of 2008-2012 , I put in three claims for house damages (as I was handling insurance issues for my aging parents). The first one was in 2008, when a faulty dishwasher due to aging water pipes flooded the kitchen/dining room, causing water damage to the linoleum. Safeco paid the claim and the floors/pipes were fixed. The 2nd was in 2010, when similar problems led to a flood in the laundry room and family room, damaging the carpet. Again, ******, paid this claim. Finally, in 2012, the *** utility meter on outside wall caught on fire and melted down, resulting in lost heat and electricity. I again put in a claim, which was subsequently paid and the meter was replaced. However, a month after that, ****** dropped the policy; the reason being too many water damage claims. So, after 40+ years of parents paying premiums and only these 3 claims made in all of that time, and they drop them? My parents were really upset, and I had to scramble to find another insurance company. In a few years, we went back to Safeco; the only reason I re-enrolled with them was it was cheaper. However, another problem has arisen. In 2016, my mother was placed into assisted living. so I rented her house out to help pay for the those arrangements. I informed my agent, and the policy was rewritten to accommodate that. This year, in 2024, I asked the agent to change the policy into my name as my mother is deceased, and because of that change, and the home is a rental property, Safeco is dropping the policy again! I would advise anyone considering home insurance NOT TO USE SAFECO! I will never, ever use Safeco again!Liberty Mutual Group Response

I am a retiree who have purchased car insurance from Liberty Mutual for the past 3 years, during which my monthly premium climbed moderately from $85 per month to $110. Though there have no changes to my profile over that time (excellent credit rating of 802, spotless driving record, a garage for my car & yearly mileage under ***** miles), my monthly premium skyrocketed over 60% with my latest increase to $2,112 a year -- about double what I was paying just 3 years ago! Though the company provides a number to call if you seek a "review or re-evaluation" of a premium increase, the representative I spoke to was willing to do neither. All she would do was justify the outrageous increase ("higher medical costs," "higher repair costs," blah, blah) and then lower my coverage considerably in order to "reduce" my increase to "only" 30!Liberty Mutual Group Response

Can't believe that they get away with charging a short rate fee that typically equates to 10% of the policy's value in nc. I cancelled my policy in march, but I guess they do premium for a year so my policy was good until October. the reason I cancelled was because I found out they were charging me almost $700 more a year for auto insurance then another company that provided even more extensive coverage. I had been with them for years and no accidents . The short rate fee ended up being over $300!!.Liberty Mutual Group Response

First of all, they took 12 days to come to my house knowing that I did not have use of my kitchen sink and when they finally came out, they were here for two hours at least and the claims adjuster said Im sorry, but were not covering anything because this couldve been leaking before, even though its clearly the drain pipe that failed in the wall And totally denied my claim they are The absolute worst insurance company, please buyers beware do better research. Similar to others, I am hoping to warn other potential customers before they sign on to Safeco. Last year I filed two water claims (been a customer for seven years without any claims). Both dragged on with no action despite me e-mailing the assigned rep almost weekly. I finally had to take to social media and was magically lifted to a Presidential status claim rep. *** second claim is over a year now with no action. I have been asking just to have it cancelled so I can get with another carrier. My insurance agency rep is saying I won't be able to get business with any other carrier because of these two claims.....I'm hoping she is not accurate as she was not any help during this process either.Liberty Mutual Group Response

Worst Insurance Company ever!!! Came home from vacation to 9 inches of water in our basement due to so much rain in a short period of time and the sump pump couldn't keep up. Called to make a claim and they said our deductible would be $1000 and to have a water restoration company come out and start the process. We had the Water restoration come out and tear everything out of our basement and dry it out and 4 days later I find out Safeco has coded out claim as damage due to wind which is a $14000 deductible. It is a complete lie that Wind caused this. ****** is trying to scam us out of rightfully getting our basement repaired. I highly recommend if someone offer Safeco to run the other way no matter the cost.Liberty Mutual Group Response

Need some Insurance people to help me out.Have been with Liberty Mutual for over 8yrs Auto and Homeowners no claims perfect driving record,, no accidents.cars 12years old paid for. They raised my auto premium ****** and my home owners premium ****** for the exact same coverage complete ********. lm ***** and the clown on the phone says "ohh everything is expensive now" but cant justify the enormous increase. Company is absolute trash. Their insurance options are about the same as any company, and at first, their premiums seemed decent. After the first two years, they increased premiums by 40% (with no accidents, no policy issues whatsoever, no tickets) and auto renewed the policy. When I found out, I spoke to someone and they couldn't find a way to lower coverage, so I cancelled and went with Progressive, for better coverage that was about $100 cheaper per month. A month later, they claim I didn't cancel, and their supervisors on the phone pretend that I agreed to something I didn't. When I told them to listen to the call, she said she would have to escalate it but it wouldn't prove that I wouldn't have to pay unless I proved I had insurance with another company. She basically called me a liar, saying I didn't have insurance, and threatened me with going to collections.I emailed a long letter with proof of insurance on the same day I called. They haven't resolved the situation yet but this company is absolutely garbage. Geico and Progressive are superior in every way. Avoid this company, they are not worth the hassle and will absolutely take advantage of any situation they can.Liberty Mutual Group Response

Liberty Mutual represents Amerigas Corporation, a terrible company that has an F rating with the BBB and many many complaints and bad reviews about them. They refused to compensate me for Amerigas damaging my driveway, more specifically the culvert running underneath it. This will cost me thousands to repair and I have pictures and video detailing the entire event. The agent handling my case told me they were not responsible for the damage to the property when it was clearly due to Amerigas making several mistakes, all which could have been prevented had the technicians been properly trained not to back down a driveway in a truck they claimed to not be able to see well in, at dark. The agent also neglected me the entire time, never calling me for updates and instead I had to **** him down to get any updates. He was rude and heartless to me when I did my best to explain that ******** is in fact at fault. They should have been trained to call immediately for assistance if they get stuck but instead he spun his tires and dug a hole in the driveway. It gets worse. He called a second tech out instead of their manager. He tried to pass him and got stuck which caused the culvert to buckle due to about ****** pounds placed on top of it with the two trucks. I explained all of this to the agent. Most of us little guys know when we break something, we fix it, even though all these corporations that take advantage of us are the ones with all the money and power. Instead I am being told by Liberty that they are not responsible. I was a customer of ********************** too until I found out they represented Amerigas. I will never do business with Liberty and will warn everyone I know about them. They could and should have done something to help me as I am still driving over plywood and a dangerous situation as I do not have the money to fix it. This is about doing the right thing, and Liberty Mutual just wants to save money any way they can instead of helping their consumers when they shouldLiberty Mutual Group Response
