    Beauty Supply Institute, LLC vs. Securities Commissioner of Maryland

     

    On March 8, 2024, Beauty Supply Institute, LLC. entered into a Cease and Desist Order with the Securities Commissioner of Maryland. Beauty Supply Institute, LLC. had previously violated the Act in 2018 and entered into a Consent Order in 2020, agreeing to cease such activities. However, Beauty Supply Institute, LLC continued to offer and sell business opportunities in Maryland. The document details multiple instances from 2021 to 2023 where Beauty Supply Institute, LLC. sold business opportunities to Maryland residents without proper registration and disclosure, violating the Act and the 2020 Consent Order. The Securities Commissioner has issued a Summary Order to Cease and Desist and an Order to Show Cause, requiring Beauty Supply Institute to explain why a final order should not be issued to permanently bar them from offering business opportunities in Maryland.

    According to information in BBB files, Beauty Supply Institute, LLC has a pattern of complaints alleging Contract, Sales, and Refund Issues. 

     

    Specifically, consumers state Beauty Supply Institute, LLC (BSI) offers training, consulting services, and provides store opening services including site review, lease negotiation, product ordering, marketing, store set-up, etc. for individuals who aspire to become beauty supply store owners. After contacting BSI and purchasing a Store Opening package consumers either do not get any of the products or services offered or very small amounts of products, often damaged or used. Others state they are told the process should take three months in most cases, some could be a little longer, however, most consumers state the process has been months to years and is still not completed. Consumers also state they are left to pay loan companies, lease agreements, and unfulfilled contracts with no recourse. Consumers are requesting refunds; however, they are unable to get responses from BSI regarding their issues or get a refund for services not performed. 

     

    On September 12, 2024, BBB contacted Beauty Supply Institute, LLC to request their voluntary cooperation in resolving the unanswered and unresolved complaints as well as their cooperation in eliminating the pattern of complaints. This aspect of the Business Profile will be updated once additional information becomes available.

The investment was advertised to include assistance with setting up the store, such as providing a business plan, securing a business loan, and offering training; however, consumers have alleged that Beauty Supply Institute failed to deliver the promised services and refuses to refund any money invested.

    My name is *************************. I hired Beauty Supply Institute located at Nov/2020 to assist with opening my store. I paid for the Full Experience package. The owner's name is ***************************. They dropped the ball miserably. I funded my holding account with $50,000 to go towards opening my store. I also paid $25,000 as a retainer fee which goes towards hiring them. Over the course of months, I only received some shipments from Uline which consisted of thank you bags, peg board hooks, slat wall hooks and the small shopping baskets. BSI was supposed to order my gondola shelving, glass show cases, products for the store, pos system and much more. Every week I would email them for an update on my deliveries and in most cases, they wouldn't reply until I email them multiple times. They took my money and now Im out of over $160,00.00 BSI could never give me an honest answer to what's going on. Kept sending me these generic emails updates. They would blame the delays on backorders. When I asked to see that statement from their vendor, they would say that I needed to wait until after the completion of my store was done which is BSI. *********************** who's the Project Manager wasn't any help at all. They delayed everything to the point of me having to terminate all dealings with them and file an active lawsuit in the state of Ga. Due to them, I'm now in debt. After terminating my store opening process with them, they stated that it would look into the matter its I had a grand opening date of 09/26/2023 and yet still not open Thanks to them. No one is communicating with me at all. This company should not be in business at all. They are horrible at business, and they've failed me majorly!! *************************** should be ashamed of his business practices!! I want All My money back that I paid to try and keep a store front and the money I spent w BSI which is ********* plus the additional items I had to purchase outside of paying them.
