I moved to **************** from ********, ** and needed to update my estate planning: *****, power of attorney, etc. In January 2022 I called the attorney (***************************) at Duffy Kekel that handled my original estate planning while living in ********, ** and left a voicemail message. I received no return call and called again about 2 weeks later. Again no return call. In February 2022 I called ***** again, but this time her message said she had retired at the end of 2021. I called main office of Duffy Kekel to find out my options. ***********************************, another attorney at Duffy Kekel, said she could handle the update. In March, ******* called to say she was not licensed in ********** and referred me to attorney ********************* who was. In April, ******* said I would be getting forms to complete from her assistant *********************. This was done and a meeting with ******* was scheduled in May. We completed necessary documentation, and ******* said it would take a couple of months. In August, September and October I made repeated calls to both ******* and **** asking for updates. I did not receive a return call until mid-October (from ****) who said I would be receiving (by email) a draft of the completed documents. Nothing came. Two weeks later I called both ******* and **** about the drafts. **** returned my call to say the draft would be coming the following week. Nothing came. It was the first week of November, and since no apparent progress had been made on my case, I called to say I would be seeking another law firm for estate planning. The very next morning at 9am I got a call from *******, the attorney, to say I can change attorneys, but that she had gotten over half of the documentation finished. This was the first acknowledgement that work had actually been done on my estate. A month later, on Dec 7th (my birthday), we signed the completed documents. A few weeks later I received the bill: $2184 for 6.4 hours of work over an eleven month period. To me, unacceptable!
