Dear ************ Thank you for your message regarding the cost of cable service. I agree that the cost has gotten out of hand and we are working to try to change things. Allow me to explain what is happening in the cable TV industry today.Most of the networks we carry are owned by about seven major corporations. When we make carriage agreements with these corporations, not only do they want all or most of their networks on the same level of service, but they also want to be carried on the same level as their competitors. So, if we are negotiating with ************ we have to continue carrying their networks (***************** *******, *****, *********** ******) on the same tier of service AND that level of service has to be comparable with any of their competing networks (*** ******, ***********, for example). Then there are the yearly rate increases for every single channel we carry almost all of the yearly increases goes directly to programming costs. It gets to be very aggravating and we are trying to fight this as much as we are able to. MCTV belongs to the **************************, or ****, a lobbying group that goes to ************** to talk to members of Congress and the *** on the outdated rules that cable has in place. We are making strides, but we still have a long way to go.I hope this helps to better understand the situation in which we find ourselves. We are at the mercy of the cable programmers. That also goes for the content. MCTV does not control any programming on the television channels. All programming is controlled by the networks themselves so regardless of what provider youd have (MCTV, ********, *******, etc.), the programming is the same. I understand your frustration with the way the networks show repeats and many reality-based programs. These networks are not exclusive to MCTV you would see the same exact shows regardless of what company provides you with your entertainment services MCTV, *******, ******* or another cable company.I hope this helps to better explain the situation. sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this had a busy week end. i understand about the programming content. the channels running the same thing over and over is aggravating and there's nothing can be done about that. but i also think MCTV is running a monopoly here in ******* because they are the only choice you have other then satellite and them don't work well in bad weather. so you are stuck with rising prices. and for me they want 70.00$ just for basic cable. that is not with in my budget.
