United States of America v. Baruch Puplampu
On Aug. 8, 2019, Baruch Puplampu, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio Eastern Division to willfully aiding in the filing of false income tax returns with the IRS and agreed to pay $77,400 in restitution to the IRS, following a Nov. 27, 2018 indictment. According to court documents, during the 2012 to 2015 tax years, Mr. Puplampu owned and operated Metro Accounting Services in Columbus, where he employed several customer service representatives to enter client information into tax preparation software, and then Mr. Puplampu added false deductions and fictitious business income with the net effect of increased refund claims or a refund where the client would have otherwise owed a tax.
