If you have provided your Social Security, driver’s license,
or any banking or credit card information - going forward, it's important to
monitor your credit report and your accounts.
Get your free credit reports from www.annualcreditreport.com.
Check for any accounts or charges you don't recognize. Consider placing a
credit freeze. A credit freeze makes it harder for someone to open a new
account in your name. If you decide against the freeze, consider a fraud alert.
For concerns about your driver’s license, contact your
Department of Motor Vehicles. The state might flag your license number in case
someone else tries to use it, or they might suggest that you apply for a
duplicate.
Contact your bank or credit card company and advise them of
the situation and follow their recommendations.
