In October 2024, BBB investigated First Choice Masonry & Tuckpointing's business practices. This investigation was prompted by a scam submission regarding a consumer alleging that after hiring First Choice Masonry, which turns out they are also now calling themselves WP Masonary and Construction, the business did not to the job to satisfaction and damaged the property. Will not return the consumers calls and wants a refund for the service.
per the consumer:
"I hired Patrick Ward, then working under the company name First Choice Masonry & Tuckpointing. Apparently now he has changed the company name to WP Masonry & Construction. Hired him initially for tuckpointing work for my basement wall around May 2024. He said he would get everything done with $4K. Then he found new issues with the foundation. He needs another $10K. Then another area of the brick needs work, He needs another $10K. He used tactics to scare me like the house was crumbling away and I needed to do something now, or the house would fall apart. Since he had already started the work, and he had men down there working, and of course I didn't want my house to crumble away, I agreed to the total of $50,000.00 he charged me. He said "No worries since this work is warrantied for 25 years". He basically was subcontracting all the work to another company who does the work for much cheaper and inflating the price. Now its September 2024, some of the areas that he worked on already has damage and needs work. I contacted him for maintenance and for him to honor the 25 years warranty. He does not return my texts or calls. I did some research on the internet and find out that the company First Choice Masonry & Tuckpointing no longer exists, and Patrick Ward is now operating under a name called WP Masonry & Construction. Based on the reviews I see, he seems to be doing similar low quality jobs and scamming people out of deposit money and not returning calls after the work is done. He cannot do this to other people anymore."
