More information on finding auto rentals and leasing you can trust
When renting or leasing a car, not only do you want to find a good deal, but it’s also important that you work with a reputable business. Important factors to consider include the condition and safety of the car, the price you’re paying, and the terms and conditions of the agreement.
There is a distinct difference between leasing and renting a car. Lease terms typically last two to five years and are usually offered by car dealerships or leasing companies.
Even though you won’t need to take out an auto loan, you will need to have a credit check done before you are approved for a lease. This is because you’ll still pay a monthly payment to the dealer to drive the car. In addition, you’ll also need to purchase car insurance.
On the other hand, car rentals are shorter and typically last a few days to a few months. Consumers can usually go to car rental companies for these shorter-term rentals. You won’t need a credit check, but most states require a minimum age of 25 years old to rent a vehicle, have a valid driver’s license, and have an accepted credit card or debit card for payment.
Decide whether a rental or a lease is better for your situation. Consider a car rental if you’re only traveling for a few days on vacation or for work. A lease may be better if you need a vehicle regularly but don’t want to purchase one.
Like any contract, always review your car rental or lease contract before signing it. For rentals, confirm that the price and rental dates are accurate, familiarize yourself with the pick-up and drop-off times and locations, and note any additional fees you could incur.
If you decide on a car lease, there’s much more to review and consider before signing a contract. Your lease will likely have a mileage limit, and there may be procedures to follow when returning the car.
Lease prices change constantly, so look for lease offers throughout the year. Evaluate the required down payment, your monthly payment, and any additional fees, such as mileage charges, to determine if these payments meet your budget.
Keep in mind that you will be responsible for maintaining your leased vehicle. Ask the dealer about what is considered normal wear-and-tear and what would be considered excessive damage. Depending on how you return the vehicle after your contract ends, you could be charged additional fees.

Accreditation and Ratings Overview
Select businesses earn BBB Accreditation by undergoing a thorough evaluation and upholding the BBB Accreditation Standards.
BBB assigns ratings from A+ (highest) to F (lowest). In some cases, BBB will not rate the business (indicated by an NR, or "No Rating") for reasons that include insufficient information about a business or ongoing review/update of the business's file.
