Building Trust and Boosting Sales: The Benefits of Joining the Better Business Bureau

Paula Fleming, CMSO, recounts a recent July 2023 conversation she had with a business owner.

"I'm thinking about joining the Better Business Bureau," said the business owner.

"The BBB can help you build trust with consumers. When people see that you're BBB accredited, they'll know that you're a reputable business that's committed to providing good customer service."

"But it costs money to join the BBB," said the business owner. "Is it worth it?"

"I think so, or I wouldn’t work @BBB for over 20 years" said Paula. "The benefits of being BBB accredited far outweigh the costs. For example, the BBB will help you resolve customer complaints, which can save you time and money. They'll also provide you with marketing materials that you can use to promote your business. And, of course, the BBB's seal of approval will give you a competitive edge over other businesses in your industry."

"How much monthly," said the business owner. “You pay based on employee count” said Paula “I will send you the application via email or you can jump on bbb.org when you get home”

The Result: The business owner joined the BBB and was soon accredited. She was pleased to see that her business's reputation improved immediately. More customers started doing business with her, and she received fewer complaints. She was also able to resolve any complaints that did arise quickly and easily with the help of the BBB.

The business owner was glad that she had joined the BBB. She knew that it was a wise investment that would help her business grow and succeed.

Here are some of the benefits of being BBB accredited:

  • Increased trust with consumers

  • Improved customer service

  • Reduced complaints

  • Increased sales

  • Enhanced marketing materials

  • Competitive edge

If you're a business owner, I encourage you to consider joining the Better Business Bureau. It's a great way to build trust with consumers and improve your business's reputation.
