In November 2021, BBB investigated Swift Capital Service following a consumer complaint indicating the lending company had requested an upfront fee in order to secure loan funds. Following the payment of the fees stipulated in the signed contract, the business further requested additional fees. To date, no loan funds have been received by the borrower and the refund as requested has not been fulfilled by the business.
In Canada and the US, it is illegal for a lending company to request upfront fees in order to secure/release loan funds.
Below are listed findings from the BBB investigation performed on Swift Capital Service.
- BBB conducted a search for business registration and incorporation. Neither search produced results indicating the business known as "Swift Capital Service" is registered or incorporated in Canada.
- The operating address claimed on the website of 440 Laurier Avenue W is commercial building space that offers virtual office space for a monthly fee. BBB attempted to mail a notice of the complaint on file to the address for Swift Capital Service- the letter was returned as the business is not a tenant of the address. The operating address of Swift Capital Service is unknown.
- In review of the contract supplied by the complainant, the company claims to be operating since 1998. In performing a WHOIS search of the domain www.swiftcapitalservice.com, the result indicated that the website had only been registered and created 2021-06-07.
BBB was unsuccessful in reaching a representative at the phone number (613) 286-3185 listed on the contract supplied by the complainant.
Due to the above mentioned findings, BBB cannot confirm Swift Capital Service's legitimacy.
