As the back-to-school season ramps up many are eager to enhance their education. However, BBB urges caution, especially when exploring online educational options like Simplilearn Americas, Inc, headquartered in Plano, TX. Since November 2024, BBB has received 256 complaints from 34 states against Simplilearn, prompting an "F" rating due to a troubling pattern of unresolved issues and misleading advertising practices.

Despite BBB efforts to have the company address these concerns, Simplilearn has failed to respond to BBB inquiries. Consumers have reported difficulties with refund policies that often force them outside the seven-day cancellation window due to scheduling delays. Furthermore, allegations include misleading claims of collaborations with prestigious universities such as Caltech, Purdue, and the Wharton School of Business, which have not been substantiated.

One complainant shared, "I enrolled in an online course claiming a partnership with Purdue for generative AI training, but the reality fell short. The quality of instruction was disappointing, and despite multiple complaints, Simplilearn refused a refund."

Monica Horton, of the BBB of North Central Texas, advises, "Before committing to any online education, utilize BBB resources to avoid potential pitfalls. Our tips can guide your research and help prevent experiences others have faced."

BBB's tips on choosing online education include how to differentiate between an accredited online school and a diploma mill.
