Better Business Bureau® (BBB®) advises consumers to use caution if considering doing business with Legend Credit Repair of St. Louis, Missouri. Some consumers reported to BBB the company failed to deliver services, failed to provide refunds, and provided poor customer service.
Legend Credit Repair has an “F” rating, the lowest on BBB’s scale, due to recent unanswered customer complaints.
BBB received complaints from consumers across the United States who followed the business and its owner, Hanso Denis, on various social media platforms. Denis, who also goes by the moniker of “Coach Legend,” has nearly 2 million followers on Instagram. He touts himself as “The #1 Social Media Influencer” on the Legend Credit Repair website, legendcreditrepair.com.
A woman from Acworth, Georgia, told BBB that she entered into an agreement with Legend Credit Repair in March 2025 to assist her with her credit. She said she found Legend Credit Repair by following it on Instagram. She said she believed the services were to cost $199 initially, with a fee of $97 per month. Soon after she signed with Legend Credit Repair, she said she was charged $1,501.
“They said they could wipe out my problems,” she told BBB. “Their solution was to cancel all of my credit cards. Now, I’m having to tell these companies that those cards were not fraudulently opened. They’ve done more harm than good. They’ve basically wiped out my whole credit history.”
She said she followed the company on Instagram for several years before deciding to do business with it. She said Legend Credit Repair did not answer her requests for a refund.
A woman from Joshua, Texas, told BBB she paid Legend Credit Repair $940 in November 2024 to help her repair her credit. She said she saw no improvement in her score and doesn’t believe she benefited from paying the company.
“What they say online is not true,” she told BBB. “When you start telling them nothing is happening, they get really ugly with you... They did nothing for me.”
A woman from Atlanta, Georgia, told BBB she entered a contract with Legend Credit Repair in the fall of 2023 to help her with her credit. She said she paid Legend Credit Repair $2,000 and subscribed to two credit monitoring services for an additional $279.
She told BBB that she felt Legend Credit Repair did little work for her and that any improvements were due to work she had done on her own.
“The services rendered were ineffective and inconsistent with promised outcomes,” the woman wrote in an email to BBB. “Legend Credit Repair has failed to respond to any of my inquiries, either by email, phone or messaging. I have received no refund or even a partial reimbursement, despite inadequate service delivery.”
Legend Credit Repair is not registered with the Missouri secretary of state. The business lists an address on Terrace Avenue in St. Louis on its service agreement with customers.
The business did not respond to a BBB letter emailed to it regarding how it plans to address its pattern of customer complaints. It also did not respond to an email sent to it by a BBB investigator. BBB did receive text messages from Legend Credit Repair after it called in an attempt to speak with Denis. The texts included a link to a Legend Credit Repair website and an offer to purchase various “credit sweep” packages.
BBB offers these tips on finding trustworthy credit repair services:
- Research any business and its owners carefully before paying any money. Check the company’s BBB Business Profile at BBB.org or by calling 888-996-3887.
- Advance fee programs are a concern. If a business asks you to pay a fee in advance, that’s a red flag. A 2010 FTC rule prohibits charging upfront fees. The FTC has tips on how to fix your credit.
- Be wary of any guarantees. Nobody can guarantee that debt will go away or improve your credit score. They can’t promise you anything before they have reviewed your personal financial situation.
- Beware of big promises. Other red flags are big promises, such as removing negative information from your credit report or urging you to get a new identity or apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to use instead of your Social Security Number.
- If you feel like you have been wronged, file complaints with the BBB and the state’s attorney general’s office.
