BBB Canton Region & Greater West Virginia: 1st Shred & E-Cycle event in Morgantown

The Better Business Bureau® Canton Region & Greater West Virginia is offering a free community shred and e-cycle event on Saturday, April 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Monongalia County Center, located at 270 Mylan Park Lane, Suite 150, Morgantown, WV 26501.

The event promotes identity theft awareness and fraud protection by providing free on-site document shredding and e-cycling services. Identity theft scams reported to BBB last year show that $111,108,966.89 was lost, with another $1,022,912,769.93 attempted. Identity theft may take a long time to detect, allowing scammers to inflict substantial damage on assets, credit, and reputation before the victim is able to notice any issues.

Proactively shredding personal documents and properly disposing of electronics are some of the best ways to protect against fraud and identity theft. Businesses and individuals can participate in this community event by bringing documents with personal and financial information to shred, and outdated, unused electronics to properly e-cycle.

Sunrise Shred will be providing the document shredding services and Nerd Electronic Recycling Depot will be providing the e-cycling services. All electronics are accepted including small appliances, batteries, cables, CDs, cell phones, circuit boards, computers, game consoles, ink and toner cartridges, IT equipment, keyboards and mice, laptops, modems, monitors, MP3 players, phone systems, printers, routers, satellite boxes, servers, speakers, switches, telecom equipment, TV's, UPS units, video games, wire and more.

There is no charge for this event; however, monetary donations to the BBB Charitable & Educational Fund, Inc., are welcomed and appreciated so that we can continue to provide this service.
