BBB Eastern MA, ME, RI & VT: Behind the Business with DJP Right Fit Recruiting LLC in Somerset, MA

(BBB)
Based in Southeastern Massachusetts, DJP Right Fit Recruiting LLC is a family-run business dedicated to helping small businesses around the US hire top talent. Founded by Debra Parent in 2014, the company provides recruiting services for businesses without a full-time recruiter or human resources (HR) department, acting as a company’s virtual HR manager.
“We help small businesses that don’t have the internal resources to find the right people,” Parent explained. “For a small company, losing just a few key employees can be devastating. That’s where we step in.”
Parent was a human resources executive for many years before opening Right Fit Recruiting. Her career choice was guided by her father’s advice when she was studying at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass Dartmouth). “He worked in the same company for 32 years and admired the personnel managers who made a real impact,” she recalled. “HR was referred to as personnel back then, and my dad recommended the field as a career path for me.”
Parent took her father’s advice and received a Bachelor of Science in human resources and an MBA. “My work career began in the Air National Guard for six years after graduating from college. The majority of my career was spent as the vice president of human resources for a large manufacturer in Southeastern, MA, where I spent 20 years, as well as the vice president of a large hospital. I also taught HR management at UMASS Dartmouth and Bristol Community College for three years.”
While teaching, Parent became interested in launching her own recruiting/HR business for small businesses, and at 50, she decided to take a leap of faith. “I wanted to help small businesses without charging the extraordinary fees that big-city recruiters demand,” she said.
What started as a one-client operation has blossomed into a thriving business that serves a range of industries, from dental practices and physical therapy clinics to manufacturing and law firms. “My first client introduced me to others, and word-of-mouth referrals have been our primary source of growth,” Parent said. “The clients I started with over a decade ago still call me today.” In January 2025, the business celebrated its eleventh year.
Parent’s family has played a vital role in growing the business. Her niece, Kate Almeida, joined Right Fit three years ago and has thrived in recruiting for dental practices. “Kate’s energy and tech-savviness have been game-changers,” Parent noted. “She’s built a full-time pipeline of dental clients almost entirely through referrals.”
Right Fit Recruiting is not your typical agency. The company specializes in permanent placements and operates as an extension of its clients’ teams. “We’re like fractional recruiters,” Parent explained. “We get to know our clients’ cultures and needs so well that we can quickly find the perfect fit for their team.”
The founder’s dedication to her clients extends beyond filling positions. The company offers a four-month guarantee for placements. “If a hire doesn’t work out, we’ll find a replacement for free,” she said. “It’s rare, but it’s part of our commitment to quality.”
The Right Fit Recruiting team embeds respect, integrity, creativity, and passion in everything it does, and Parent elaborated on those values. “That means keeping clients and candidates informed concerning the search, screening, interview process and progress. Getting back to people is important to us as we develop long-term relationships with both clients and candidates.”
When asked what makes Right Fit Recruiting different from other agencies, Parent replied, “We work evenings, weekends and holidays when candidates are job searching. We are not nine-to-five recruiters. We are nimble and move fast. We help our clients improve their online ratings to attract candidates. Then, we help our clients retain staff by recommending needed HR programs.”
This year, Right Fit Recruiting is expanding its reach with a first-time exhibit at the Yankee Dental Congress in Boston. Parent is excited about the opportunity to showcase the company’s services to a broader audience. “It’s a new step for us,” she said. “We’ve grown steadily through relationships, and this will help us connect with even more businesses.”
When asked about her goals for the future, Parent’s response was simple: “I do hope for continued growth for Kate and me. I also hope that we can help our clients with recruiting plus their other HR needs.” She concluded, “I don't really want to be the biggest recruiting firm; I want to be the best at what we do. And I want our clients to be satisfied with the people we source for them—that's my goal.”
