For those unfamiliar with construction lingo, core drilling refers to cutting into concrete for sewer piping, wiring, piping, basins, dryer vents, drains for pump placement in floors, and similar projects. Slab sawing uses diamond blades to cut concrete floors for installing pipes or electrical conduits and replacing damaged concrete. Wall sawing is another specialty for Central Maine Concrete Cutting and encompasses cutting out concrete sections for doors, windows, and other objects.
According to Curran, there aren’t many concrete-cutting businesses in his area, and he enjoys filling that void for his community. “We meet new customers every day and enjoy traveling our beautiful state to their location. We enjoy delivering a service they need.” Curran also shared that he is very much involved with day-to-day operations of his company. “I am the scheduler, owner and, often, the worker on the job,” he said.

Reflecting on his business from when he first started until now, he said, “We have changed very little in terms of our message to our customers. It was then and is now that we are here to take the burden or problem from you and make you feel that help is here and the problem is solved.”
When asked what the secret sauce is to running his business, Curran said, “We believe in constant and timely communication. I hear often that we communicated very well, and they like that. Nobody likes chasing down a contractor or wondering when they will show, got the message or if the job was done. I call back immediately, and I call owners or contractors when done and supply pictures of proof that the job was done and cleaned up. My billing is quick along with W9s and insurance validity.”
