Protecting homes from the roof down
Dan Dumond, founder and owner of The Roof Doctors, is no stranger to Maine's harsh weather. He was born and raised in Portland, Maine, and learned the roofing trade alongside another area roofer who taught him the value of doing every job the right way. A life lesson that has served his family-owned business well for the past 26 years.
“I started my business tying ladders to the roof of my car,” Dumond explained. “I’ve worn a lot of different hats over the years. Today we have a fleet of six trucks, and work with individuals, as well as, homeowner and condo associations. My role is more behind the scenes and sales than on top of houses these days.”
Dumond said his business grew primarily through referrals and attributed his success to doing the job right the first time.
“We’ve always been adaptable, competitive, and knowledgeable,” Dumond explained, “which allows us to pivot quickly with new developments in roofing technology, as well as with world events, such as the 2020 pandemic.”
The Roof Doctors specialize in new roof installations, whole roof replacements, repairs and patches, and shoveling during winter. Since the pandemic, The Roof Doctors have implemented certain safeguards to minimize physical interactions while maximizing efficiency. They use satellite imaging to get roof measurements and digitally send accurate work descriptions and quotes.
It’s not just the roofing that matters to Dumond and his team. The Roof Doctors pride themselves on delivering the highest quality roofs while protecting their property and landscape during the project.
“The best part of running The Roof Doctors,” Dumond explained, “ is bringing curb appeal and happiness to our customers.”
Dumond enjoys the outdoors and the four seasons that his home state of Maine offers and loves supporting his community. The Roof Doctors serves most of southern and central Maine and has been a BBB Accredited Business since 2016.
