BBB GWP Warning: Consumers report Oregon-based Lomac Stone Co. failed to complete work after deposit
(Better Business Bureau Great West + Pacific)
Better Business Bureau Great West + Pacific is warning consumers about Lomac Stone Company due to reports and complaints filed on BBB Scam Tracker℠. According to these reports, consumers lost money when the contractor failed to complete work as promised after receiving a 75% deposit. Reports have been filed in Oregon and Washington, with an average reported loss of $5,000.
The contractor, John Paul Macias, is licensed in Oregon and has four pending complaints with the State of Oregon Construction Contractors Board. Macias was formerly licensed in Washington; however, in May 2023, he was cited by Washington State Labor & Industries for failure to have a contractor’s license.
An Oregon homeowner reported a similar issue with Lomac Stone Co., claiming, “The contractor failed to fulfill the contract and left the state for Texas without paying his employees.” With no contact information, this homeowner was left with a damaged countertop from paint and drilled holes that were supposed to be replaced by a new granite install.
Consumers are urged to exercise caution when dealing with BBB F-rated Lomac Stone Co. or other contractors using similar practices. The Better Business Bureau recommends thoroughly researching contractors before hiring them and checking their license status with the appropriate agencies.
