“Coming into the year 2020, we were poised to have our best year ever,” says Michael Killen, a small business owner out of Pittsburgh. “Then everyone’s world got turned upside down.”
Like most small businesses across North America, Amish Yard LLC had to close its doors after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Killen says he and his team were forced to invent a new way to do business without being in their stores.
In business for 13-years and a BBB Accredited Business for the past eight, Amish Yard specializes in Amish built storage sheds, garages, horse barns, and cabins. Nationally they sell outdoor polyvinyl furniture which they ship all over the US.
“I started a business in late 2007 at the start of a recession. One of the things that carried us through that was quality and integrity,” Killen explained. “Here we are in another crisis and I think what we learned was that quality and integrity will never lose their value.”
As a BBB Accredited Business, Killen says Amish Yard not only meets the BBB Standards for Trust, but they embrace it. For Killen, BBB adds a layer of trust for his company and that’s something he says is more important now than ever.
“People know when you care and don’t care and people respond to that. And when this all happened, we took hundreds of orders at the home show and we had no cancellations,” Killen said confidently.
