1 starHorrible company to deal with. Called three separate times to cancel due to moving and no longer needing service. Was hung up on on two of the attempts to cancel. The final attempt was met with a rude customer service *** and found out they charge $75 to come out to pick up their garbage can. I would not recommend them for trash pickup.Review fromLaurissa W

1 starWaste Management charges $ 8. 50 for not setting up for autopayment which I wasn't aware when I took off autopayment. I had autopayment set up before but I had to pull it off due to payment hadn't been deducted from my bank account. So I had to pay manually with late fee. Customer with WM since 2012 when the local company we had been using sold out to them. At that time, the quarterly bill was $58. By 2018, the cost had risen to $95. I called and was able to talk with someone (only after I chose the option of "moving" on the menu). She discouraged me from cancelling and also discouraged me from using any other local company by commenting on their unreliability. She gave me a lower price of $49 guaranteed for a year but by the next year it was back up to $58. With yearly price increases the cost by 2024 had gone up to $102. I cancelled them at the end of 2024, now using a local family owned service for about 2/3 the cost.Other than the cost, I experienced poor customer service. Sometimes ********************** and/or recycling wasn't picked up, without explanation. It was nearly impossible to find a phone number that led to customer support. When I did find a number and called, I would get a message saying they weren't open (even during regular hours of business). If I stayed on the line it would be dead air leading me to think I'd been disconnected so I would hang up. I finally stayed on the line, talked to a person who again cautioned me about cancelling and told me I could owe up to $75 for cart retrieval. He gave me a date to have the carts out for pick up, three weeks later I had to call them again to get the carts. In the end, after cancelling I was billed $42 and an additional $14 based on admin fees and solid waste tax. I only wish I would've had the good sense to cancel sooner. Barriers to contacting this company added an unnecessary level of difficulty to that end.Waste Management

Took a few tries to cancel services. They will not stop services that are paid up to the quarter. Fine. Mine was paid. I took my credit card off file with them because other reviews said they continue to charge" closed" accounts (this resulted in the 8.50 administrative charge). They proceeded to send me another bill with a $70 resume service fee, ***** fuel charge, 5.00 franchise fee, 3.48 reg cost fee and an Administrative charge of 8.50. They applied a $16 credit that they owe me back to this ***** ****. Now fraudulent the bill is $97.02. When I called they won't reverse the fraudulent charges. I refuse to pay these thieves another cent. I pay all of my bills and have an excellent credit rating. I will fight this one out of principle. Avoid this company they over charge AND then create charges even after you discontinue service!Waste Management

Trying to double dip. Dysfunctional ** all over.I stopped service in my name after my tenant transferred over on to their name. However after multiple calls; they not only didn't cancel mine; they even auto charged me.. Then when I called they refunded after a month. and now again, from their other office somewhere in **********; they are asking for that refund money back again; sending me a bill. They want to double dip on 1 address with 2 bills and twice the money. What a disgrace and shame.Waste Management

I'm not sure how this company can have a completely variable rate that goes up consistently the longer you have service. Expect your bill to rise every quarter for the foreseeable future! They have a sham accounting practice!Waste Management

I have been a customer since 1996. The cost of my service has gone up tremendously. My cost was $271.58 quarterly. Someone told me to call ****** because they were much less. I called ****** and their service for 3 months was $80, less than what WM was charging me for 1 month, and that was with a trash bin. When I started my services back in 1996 I was never given a new trash bin. I had to use the trash bin that was already there from the previous owners, and still using it today. Once I enrolled with ******, I called WM to cancel my services. At that time, the agent asked me if I was leaving because I was moving, I told her no that their services were too costly and I was going with another service. She put me on hold and came back and told me that they can provide the services for $90. So all this time that WM is charging me $271.58. They could have been charging me $90. This was so disappointing to me that they continuously increase their rates with no need to do so. They have no loyalty to customers who have been with them for a years. In addition I had paid through June so I asked her to return the prorated amount back to my account. She told me that she could not do that so I asked why, they have no problem taking the money out of my account. She told me that its stated on my invoice that theyre not allowed to return the money. I looked on my invoice and there was nothing on my invoice that stated that. She said well its not on that invoice, but its on the previous invoice. I looked on my previous invoice and it was not on there either. Twice she dishonest to me. She said that she could send me the notice, I said what good does that do to me now. She also told me that it was my responsibility to ask for a lower amount if my bill was too high. How about being loyal to the 30 year customers and not raise the rates if its not necessary. ****** extended their start date so I didnt have to pay for 2 services. I suggest you provide customer service training.Waste Management

We've had dumpster service with them for 5 years. Initially signing up with them was for a 3-year period. I was unaware contract would renew after the 3-year period. I did not receive notification that the renewal was due. After rate increases the last two years by $10 per year. Our beginning contract was for $34 per month and had increased to $78 per month and I had enough. I called in and expressed my desire to cancel the service due to financial hardship and price increases. They refused with no remorse or consideration of our situation. After reviewing the contract copy she emailed to me I found they had us listed as a business and not residential. That in itself is incorrect. They are very difficult to deal with and inconsiderate of people's circumstances. So I will pursue all avenues to get this resolved. But for other consumers they need to be wary of this company and thiet price hikes and contract protocols. There are many other companies out there so shop around.Waste Management
