How does the Better Business Bureau rating system work?

Ratings range from A+ to F, based on factors like customer complaints, transparency, and responsiveness. Customer reviews do not impact the BBB rating. BBB also seeks and uses information directly from businesses and public data sources. Please find more information about our rating system.

BBB ratings reflect how a business is likely to interact with customers. Ratings update automatically as new information is received. In some cases, a business's grade may be lowered if the BBB does not have sufficient information about the business despite requests for the information.

Owner of Ninja Electronics Retail Stores Pleads Guilty to Fraud and Money Laundering Charges

The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

On January 12, 2023  Milton Barr, owner of Ninja Electronics entered into a guilty plea with the Department of Justice, Western PA Division. The plea settles allegations of three separate criminal charges arising out of his ownership and operation of a series of electronics reseller stores revolving around criminal conspiracy, mail fraud, and  money laundering.

The evidence presented to the Court showed that during the period January 2016 through August 2018 Barr oversaw an operation that generated substantial revenue by purchasing stolen health and beauty aids and over the counter medications from walk-in sellers. Ninja in turn took these stolen goods, bought for pennies on the dollar of their original price, and then offered them for sale on websites like Amazon.  The stolen goods were then shipped to consumers through the United States mail. According to the evidence provided to the court,  Mr. Barr received in excess of $540,000 in a business checking account from Amazon during the indictment period.

Sentencing for Mr. Barr is set for May 17, 2023.  For full press release click here.
