Best Choice Roofing. They installed a new roof for me two years ago in March. I contacted them to fix the roof, and after several calls, they finally came out. They said the roof didn’t look right, as it hadn’t laid down at the seam where I have an addition, and several shingles hadn’t laid down either. They claimed these would lay flat once warmed by the sun. They told me they would talk to the owner about getting it repaired under warranty. However, here we are with no repairs, not even the shingles that were supposed to lay down. I would not recommend them to anyone. The customer service is also bad, taking several calls and messages before responding.

Good morning, Apologies for the delay. To answer your question:
      - We have signed a new contract with the customer, and they are exploring financial options to get their entire roof replaced. I believe with them signing the contract for a full replacement, they have agreed to move forward with continuing business with us.

Called Best Choice Roofing to come out and look at my roof for storm damage on April 8 2024. Agreed to having a new roof installed and gutters and downspouts at the cost of $6500. I signed the contract and paid $1300 down so they could order the materials for the job. Every time I called or emailed to see what the hold was on the job I was told there was a hold up at corporate. Now it’s August 23 2024 and I get a call from ******* at Best Choice Roofing telling me they are unable to do it at the price we have on a signed legal binding contract. ******* told me the price of materials went up a MONTH after we signed the contract so they will need to reevaluate the price of the job and pay that amount or I can get my $1300 back. We have a legal contract for the job to be done and money paid down 4 months ago. The gentleman that came out and gave us the estimate for the job and agreed to the price and had us do the down payment was apparently the owner (Andrew) of that region. The job needs done at the price we agreed to asap. My roof is now leaking when it rains and we are coming up on fall.

I was in fact the one on site with the customer during initial presentation and it was made clear  I was sending it through to our corp office for review. It was sent to them and discovered it was priced too low based off some additional work added on the job. Our contract states we can preclude ourselves from services on the roof after contracted. We will gladly reimburse the customer the deposit they've submitted.

A refund of $1300.00 is fine. I've reached out to Best Choice yesterday 9/5/24 and today 9/6/24 and as usual no return call.

The response you got from Best Choice is not totally true. When Andrew came out to do the estimate for the roof he explained to us Best Choice had a deal going

for a full roof replacement for $5000.00 and yes he did say there could be possible extra money involved if the job required additional wood for the roof. That's

fully understandable. He gave us the price of $1500.00 to replace the gutters and down spouts. We agreed to that as well. We paid the $1300.00 down the same day Andrew was out here to do the estimate so they could order the material for the job.

So now since Best Choice did not order the material when Best Choice said they was going to the price of material went up and Best Choice  just wants out from under the job because it will not show enough profit. That's what was explained to me over the phone by ******* at Best Choice.

******* was supposed to call me back with a new estimate for the job even though we already had a contract or to do a refund if we did not like the new estimate. That was before we contacted the B.B.B.. Never heard back from ******* so now here we are.

Like I said I am totally fine with the $1300.00 refund.

This company was supposed to replace my roof as an insurance claim. They took the first check from my insurance as a deposit. Never replaced my roof by contracted date, never contacted me on an update, isn't refunding me my insurance check when requested, and requesting a $1,000 fee of breach of contract when it isn't in the signed contract nor am I the one to breach the contract.

      Good evening!

We contracted with the homeowner for an insurance replacement. The insurance scope of repairs was incorrect. We attempted to make contact with the insurance company to mediate those issues.

The insured was told by their insurance what we were attempting was fraud so they cancelled without the opportunity for us to talk with either side.

Our Kettering office sent off a check request for the homeowner to be refunded and we are simply waiting for that to process.

My roof was replaced in August 2023. I had gutter covers but instead of puttinh them back on, the crew took them. They also left a hole in the side of the house. A representative came around in early September to inspect and have me sign off. I was told the hole would be fixed and that the gutter covers should have been replaced. That is written on that paper. As of today, there has been no contact from the company. The hole remains, and still no gutter covers. I want this rectified ASAP.

I am a senior citizen. I hired them to put on a new roof. It has been leaking and looks all wavy. They finally sent a man out. He went on the roof and made a phone call back to the office. My daughter and I overheard the entire conversation which indicated that it all needed to be replaced because it is going to leak. He told me they fired the guys who did the job and they will not replace the messed up roof.

I paid for almost all of it but I am withholding the final payment. They are now threatening me with a lien, they are refusing to do anything to fix the messed up roof. They say I owe them $1,651.15 and then another $550.00 for tarp which they cover my sky lights windows which I didn't ask for my sky lights to be cover which the one was leaking but if when they replaced the roof if they had did it the right way my sky light should not have ben leaking.

I would like them to stop harassing me for money. I would like my contract and warranty. I would like an itemized receipt. I would like them to finish the job and make all necessary repairs.

      Business Response

      Good afternoon,

No such conversation about the roof occurred and the subcontractor is still employed with us. Ms. **** has a skylight on the back of the roof that leaks and we asked her during install to replace due to the fact it was going to leak potentially if not replaced. She did not want to do so due to the cost.

We offered to replace said skylight but would not do so without payment that’s been withheld. Per our contract we have no obligation to complete the skylight and have a signed COC from the customer indicating she was happy with the work.

We received all 5’s from the customer on completion and the final step was to make payment. That COC was collected in August of last year.

We have a standard process of reporting issues after install lined out on our contract paperwork. We have now had to involve legal services incurring more costs to collect the originally agreed contract amount.

I am willing to replace the skylight at cost, homeowner will be responsible for said cost. This will require a good faith payment of at least half the balance before any work is performed due to the time elapsed.

      Customer Answer

Project was agreed that they would do it for what insurance co paid her, she paid her deductible. Bad job of repair and never addressed leaking around skylight and some things were not done. Finally came out to inspect it and that is when Alice and daughter overheard conversation business rep relaying message back to business that job was not well done and that team that did the work was fired. Put tarp over leaking skylight and she does not want anything to do with the skylight at this time - next spring. She already gave them all the insurance money for roof work and now they gave her another bill for approx $2000 . She does not know what it is for. Wants to know why when the $ agreement was taken care of. Needs to know about warranty on workmanship and the new shingles on the roof in writing.
she has reread some yellow paperwork  -biz says willing to replace skylight at their cost - and wants good faith payment of 50% before any work - does not want to deal with any of that now - she has made herself sick with worry , nobody to help her read and understand what changed and how she owes them more - she could hear fie and understand what they were saying but maybe had not read all the fine details on th papers properly

she said 5 things for completion of project - and they were paid everything the insurance gave for the roof job to be done

she is confused how terms of a contract was changed without her knowledge"

If the customer has a paid in full invoice from us and a new invoice showing a new amount I would appreciate seeing said documents. The customer was made aware that she owes depreciation when the job was contracted and when the job was complete.

We offered to replace the skylights but it would be an out of pocket expense to the homeowner. That was refused. I cannot force a customer to replace something at an additional expense or I would be seen as taking advantage of someone.

I have since offered to replace the skylights at cost so that they will no longer leak.

We have not been paid in full on the original contract, hence the collections attempts. Any and all information has been provided and I’m happy to send out invoices to property owner for verification.

I contracted with best choice roofing to get a metal roof installed. we had multiple bumps along the way, but they sent me the design of what would be included in my roof replacement. when the production manager got there he said that part of my roof which is a metal overhang of a window could not be used because of the type of metal used for the roof.

I said I understand and that it will be okay if they painted it to make it look better versus refunding me. the production manager agreed to that and then I continue to get commitments from the general manager, the production manager and the owner that they would paint it. multiple times the crew never arrived to do so. they finally agree to issue me a $500 refund based on an estimate I provided to get the work done. I told them I would sign the certificate of completion when they issued the check for completed the work. they attempted to have me sign the certificate of completion without the check and prior to signing I said where is the check?

the production manager stated that the general manager would not give it to him and I said well the agreement was a $500 refund and then I would sign the completion certificate. the general manager then stayed it to me well then the workers can't get paid. I stated they can when the work is completed or the refund of the work is done.

I sent a text to the general manager and he said that they would not hold up paying workers for $500 and I said well then provide me the refund and he would not. this is the most immoral, unethical and dishonest group of people I've ever met. all I want is my refund since I've already paid almost $12,000 out of pocket and they won't honor their word so I won't sign that completion certificate
