A week ago, I was in a car accident, and it has been a really difficult and stressful time for me. I rented a car from Thrifty while waiting for mine to be repaired, and when I found out my car still wasn't ready, I needed to extend my rental. At first, I ran into a bit of trouble, and honestly, I was already overwhelmed from everything I'd been dealing with. But when I went to the front desk, everything changed. The manager and supervisor treated me with such kindness and understanding that it genuinely touched me. The manager went above and beyond , she worked with me patiently, checked the pricing, and made sure I kept my original rate. She didn't have to, but she chose to help me during a moment when I really needed someone to ******* the middle of a tough week, their support made me feel seen and taken care of. It turned a stressful situation into something manageable, and I'm truly grateful for that. unfortunately forgot the manager's name, but I want to sincerely thank her and the entire team, because she deserves all the appreciation in the world.Thank you, Thrifty, for not just renting me a car, but for showing compassion when I needed it most. I've already shared my positive experience with my coworkers, and I will absolutely be renting from you again whenever I travel. Your kindness made a real difference in my life.????

I would put a negative 10 stars if I could. Worst experience. I showed up at the desk in Tampa airport. I had already paid for a stay and car together. I specified the car o wanted. They told me they were giving me an electric car. I didn’t ask for or want that. They said the only way I could get a gas vehicle is if I pay extra. In order to get a car that night I had to do that. They told me to fight it later for a refund. Now they refuse to refund when I specifically asked for an economy car. I will call my credit card company and fight the charge. This is the worst company ever. Don’t go to them. Awful

Thrifty customer service and roadside assistance is a joke. Paid the extra for insurance, but apparently didn't do the right insurance. Enter - losing the key, car in a parking garage, and 6 hours (and counting) of trying to solve the problem. Called roadside assistance phone call #1 and #2, they dispatched a tow company after being told the specifics - parking garage, 6 feet 5 inch clearance, and needing to open the vehicle to get belongings out of the car. Tow truck #1 ($125) shows up, "we can't go in there, we can't unlock the car, roadside assistance didn't tell us." Phone call #3 to roadside assistance again, the specifics were given, "parking garage, 6.5feet clearance, need the car unlocked." Tow Truck #2 ($190) shows up. "we can't go in there, we can't unlock the car, roadside assistance didn't tell us." Phone call #4. specifics given, "parking garage, 6.5 feet clearance, need the car unlocked." Tow truck #3 will be dispatched, ($485). Phone call to customer service ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. If the keys do not get returned you will be charged for every day they are not returned. Ummmmm...... how can we return something that is lost?

Arrived at the thrifty rental at the LAX airport and they had cars but not a crew to wash them. That’s what we were told. Everyone is waiting an hour per person because the wash crew has a 1-2 hour gap and thrifty doesn’t have another to wash them. It is now 0050. And there r 5 people in front of me this is ridiculous.

Terrible customer service. Unable in person or on the phone to modify a reservation in advance. Was told it had to be canceled and re-done, but there will be a $100 fee to cancel! Doesnt make sense to do that if you just need to modify. Then was told to cancel online and cannot do it over the phone or in person, but the site doesn't show where to cancel and is misleading. There is no way to cancel online. There is a level of deception and lack of customer service and consideration. Very scummy, thst you cannot modify, forced to cancel and pay fees and then cannot find a way to make an actual cancelation. They should be able to do that for a customer in person or over the phone. Very strange and sneaky.

I created and paid reservation via Thrifty Car Rental website with designated pick-up location Tsh Camelback. Arrived to pick-up my vehicle and was informed the only available vehicle was an EV and would need to be charged at a charging station, I expressed, politely, my dismay at this unplanned complexity. The manager at Tsh Camelback informed me that he would not be issuing me a vehicle. I said I was accepting the vehicle. He informed me he would not be issuing a vehicle in accordance with the contract. I asked for my rental to be reimbursed and to have paperwork for the reimbursement. The manager told me I would have to do that online. I requested documentation that he was not honoring my rental contract so that I would not be penalized for "canceling" or "not showing up to collect my car" when I went online for a refund. The manager refused to provide documentation, told me I was on private property and now considered to be trespassing and that his next step would be to call law enforcement. I reported this experience at the local location to the national rental office and I am awaiting confirmation for my full reimbursement.

The employee at the front desk kept asking irrelevant questions in a bad, unprofessional manner, including why you are here, what this is for. I refused to answer. They refused my car pickup and unhonored my reservation in a rude and bad way. I don't think this is a good business culture, and this should be corrected.

I reserved a vehicle through Thrifty with a written confirmation that my car would be held for up to 8 hours after my flight’s arrival, even in the case of delays. I added my flight information and completed online check-in five days in advance. Everything appeared in order—until I arrived at the Portland Airport rental counter shortly after midnight. Despite Thrifty’s clear commitment, I was told by their employee that there were no cars available—not even in a different category. No help was offered, no alternatives were provided, and she simply told me to “try Dollar,” which is owned by the same parent company. The only vehicle left at Dollar cost more than twice what I had originally reserved—$1,560.29 vs. $760.91. I had no choice but to accept it or be stranded overnight and miss the wedding I flew to Oregon to attend. The counter was minutes from closing and there was no time to escalate or troubleshoot. What’s worse is that Thrifty never disclosed that a “confirmed” reservation could be canceled due to availability. Their policy specifically implies the opposite. If I hadn’t followed their instructions and checked in early, or if I hadn’t had the means to cover an unexpected $800+ increase, I would have been left in a truly awful situation. This wasn’t a simple inconvenience—it was a serious failure to honor written commitments and borderline monopolistic, given that they are owned by the same parent company. If Thrifty cannot guarantee reservations or support customers in urgent moments, they should not be in business.

Thrifty at St. Louis airport- I rented a car from them and when I got there and got the keys and was about to leave the lady begin saying she needed to change the car because that car had been reported stolen. This left me leaving the place a hour into my time. Upon returning the car the facility had the entrance blocked. I explained feeling uncomfortable with driving up the wrong way to pull the car in front of the building. The guy got mad saying they couldn’t accept the car if it’s left at the entrance. But also refused to open the entrance gate for a proper return. The next day I was charged a $350 smoking fee although the car had no odor.
