BBB Charity Accreditation, a program of the BBB Center for Nonprofit Excellence, helps donors make informed giving decisions and promotes high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public. BBB Charity Accreditation evaluates charities that solicit for funds in Northern Colorado and Wyoming* against a comprehensive set of standards developed by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance.
The 20 Standards for Charity Accountability are a baseline set of best practices and review four key areas of interest to donors:
BBB does not rank charities but rather seeks to assist donors in making informed judgments about those that solicit their support. Evaluations are done without charge to the charity and are posted for free public access at bbb.org/wyoming-and-northern-colorado.
Charities that are found to meet all 20 standards have the option of signing a license and paying a fee for the use of a BBB Accredited Charity Seal that can be displayed on their websites and in their fundraising materials.
*Nationally soliciting charities are evaluated by BBB Wise Giving Alliance at give.org.
