On 01/17/2023, at approx. 2200 hours, my car had to be towed due to damage from an MVA. Damage from the MVA was only to the front tire. There was no body damage. John, from H&R Repair and Towing, towed my car, & caused significant body damage to the front bumper and side panel. John acknowledged that he caused the damage but said that he told my son that there may be a little damage caused to the vehicle. He did not have my son sign a waiver. I called John to talk to him about the damage and he said that my son gave him permission. I asked for the signed waiver and he said, "Everything is digital. We don't have the capability to have people sign waivers." He refused to have a conversation with me. I called on 01/24/2023 and spoke to a lady that answered the phone, Donna. I explained the situation and she immediately began saying that John had permission to tow and damage my vehicle. She refused to connect me to the owner (I think his name may be Larry) and she refused to give me their company's insurance information. She then hung up on me. I have notified my insurance company. But this tow company should not be able to get by knowingly causing damage to a vehicle, acknowledging that they damaged it but then saying that they were given verbal consent to do so. First, I do not know exactly what John said to my son (20 yo). And, my son had just been involved in an MVA and was really shaken up. John did not call to ask me, the owner of the vehicle, for permission to knowingly damage my vehicle. I have attached pictures. The pictures where the front passenger tire is sticking out like the vehicle would be making a sharp right turn in just after the accident but before the tow. If you look at the body, especially the front bumper, you can see that there is no damage. The pictures where the tire is somewhat straight shows the damage caused by the tow truck/driver. The front bumper is cracked and broken and the body panel above the wheel well is damaged.

I'm not one to normally share negative reviews, ******** ***** Repair and Towing desperately needs to improve their services, including their customer service. My daughter lives in Johnstown & took her 2019 ****** to H&R for a coolant leak in Nov/2023. They said they fixed the coolant leak, after leaving the check engine light came on, it had never been on before, they didn't check her fluids at original visit or do a safety inspection. She took it back in, they did an oil change, she drove the car for ***** miles during the week, after the oil change & hose replacements. The car overheated, she pulled over, had it towed back in due to the hose they originally replaced coming off, since the clamps were not properly installed. Now her cylinder heads have blown due to the hose they installed blowing off. A four year old car with a blown engine due to their negligence. We've made attempts to contact the owner, resolve this in a respectful and responsible manner. *****, who answers the phones refuses to allow us to discuss this matter with *****, the owner. She has been most unprofessional each time we've attempted to reach the owner, yelling at us, hanging up on us, when we were being very calm in our attempts to get answers and resolve this. My daughter has the paperwork from each time she had her car there & 3 mechanics have now stated negligence on the part of H&R, after checking out the car/hoses/clamps/paperwork. She's also attempted emailing to get this resolved, with no accountability on their part, as calling trying to discuss the issue in a reasonable manner has been impossible. We are left with a 4yr old car with a blown engine due to the horrible choice to have ***** work on this car. Sadly, we trusted a local small business to be honorable & provide quality work. Now they refuse to do anything to accept accountability of their actions or even discuss in a professional manner.

Vehicle was brought in for coolant leak on 11/17/23 at ****** miles, we replaced both coolant hoses, and pressure tested the system. Since owner was unclear how far driven in overheat condition, tech checked for exhaust gasses in coolant, and found none. Vehicle brought back in on 11/21/23 at ****** with check engine light on, we ran diagnostics and pulled 5 codes all related to engine lubrication, found engine oil 2 quarts low, recommended oil change with a cleaner and additive which we did, no fluid leak noted. Vehicle brought back in on 12/11/23 at ****** miles for coolant leak, found bottom radiator hose came off, reinstalled hose and retested system for exhaust gasses in coolant, found excessive gasses present indicating breach at cylinder head or gasket likely due to previous overheating. We gave her an estimate and recommended she get 2nd opinion. She later got back to me demanding we take responsibility for repairs and she has lied stating vehicle was parked and not driven since 11/21 repairs, and when I pointed out she had put **** miles on it since then, she countered with her "expert" stated we mis installed the hose because it would have torn the hose, which of course made no sense at all, she would not provide me with documentation of her "experts" findings or their qualifications, One of them called me and he was unaware that vehicle had been driven that far, and he asked if we would do the job and credit her for the previous repair, and I told him no. She has steadily been emailing me telling me tall tales and expecting me to just take her word for things, we could not have mis installed the hose and it be driven that amount of miles, it would have blown as soon as engine reached operating temperature. ***We are not responsible for checking vehicle fluids as part of repairs to other systems, and it is unreasonable to try to hold us responsible for the owners' negligence in having her vehicle serviced regularly. Or shutting engine off when overheating.
