Currently I'm behind on my two car loans with LCU. Recently I received a call from their representative (we'll call him ******) wanting an update and or resolution. Prior to speaking with ******, I informed another rep that I would like to surrender the vehicles. The rep informed me of the process and that I could still owe a remaining balance after the vehicles were auctioned. When ****** called, he asked for Mr. ***** (that's me) in a tone that could make a person have flashbacks to their childhood, and aggressive.I took his tone as he means business and probably will be direct. I gave him permission to call me ***. He commenced to ask probing questions about why I hadn't made an effort to make a payment. I explained it like this “making a payment will take food off my table and I was laid off. I proceeded to address his questions in a calm manner. I understood that I'm currently in the wrong by being delinquent . We were engaged for a little bit about account information, surrendering/repo process. ****** crossed the line with his derogatory comment about me being in my forties, I quickly shut him down from finishing his comment. I did not react in a negative manner, just proceeded on with the call. I was truly off guard because I made myself vulnerable due to the nature of the situation. Shortly afterwards, ****** again started to make another insulting commit by saying " you should find a new job", combined with his tone. I was insulted for the second time. I addressed his comments in a non aggressive manner. Expressing that the new job is experiencing a slow period that's not normal, and I'm actively seeking a second or new job. The call ended with us agreeing to reconvene in a couple weeks. There was no empathy, understanding, care, or apology from ******. All key components his teammates showed. I hope no one else has an experience like this. These last few days, I haven't been myself. ****** words have negatively impacted my emotional state.Landmark Credit Union Response

I have been a member with landmark for 23 years. I recently paid off a car loan with them. Never late and had automated payments out of account. Ive also got 3 other car loans previously. Go into our branch in ********* ** was preapproved for an auto loan. Only when I got to ***** and tried to purchase a car was told landmark denied me due to poor performance with landmark credit. What??? How insulting. Im debating on taking my service elsewhere. Has to be more to this denial. So disappointedReview from Ashley W

Landmark Credit Union isn't no help!! I was in the process of buying a home ,and applied for a Conventional and FHA loan and was in the process for about a month. I was receiving the run around to end of getting denied. I feel race has a significant factor and discrimination was the problem. I bet If I was white I would've got approved immediately. My credit is high 600 and has 2 years of employment history. Credit wasn't the problem at all.Landmark Credit Union Response

Landmark is complete garbage. It's for people with alot of money. No guidance as far as building credit. Not really willing to work with you. Non stop phone calls if ur a day late on something and then you'll get a call 2 hrs later from someone else for the same ****. Un real. Now I've been communicating my current situation with them all along the way due to me filing for bankruptcy. Last night I had 243.55 in my checking account and they literally drained it...left me with nothing. Had to borrow money for gas to get home. Needless to say I am done. Done done done. 12 years. Done. Been wanting to get out but that was the last straw. Landmark sucks and I thought they sucked before they robbed me too. Go to summit credit union they give u 50 bucks if u close ur landmark acct and open one there. Wayyy better and way more helpful. Landmark ****** ** *

Got an auto loan with LCU ,paid it off before the term. Never been late on a payment. To buy my second car ,I asked for a personal loan instead of an auto loan but the lady (Cristal C*******) kept insisnting that I get an auto loan again. I declined many times. With an 810+ credit they gave me a $5,500 personal loan with what I came to find ,a way too high interest rate compared to the average other people with a credit like me. Can't wait to pay this off and never make business with them again. Shame

EVERY TIME I try to use my VISA from them it gets flagged as fraud. I can't even use it, I have to get another card from somewhere else just to be able to pay for things. And yet they took $2K out of my savings by accident to go to a bank that I don't even have an account at and they don't notice until we called them on it, had to go to a big meeting to prove that we weren't actually lying... I used be very happy here. I'm now going to have to leave entirely because I cannot spend my life on hold with the fraud department every time I turn around.Landmark Credit Union Response

So I read the letter in response to my complaint. First, they said they only flagged our visas 3 times. Um. No. Maybe three times PER MONTH. Then they tried to blame the other bank for THEIR transfer of MY money from MY savings account. First of all, no other bank should even know I HAVE another account. Second, THEY were still the ones transferring the money without even verifying that account was mine. So they basically call me a liar, blame everyone BUT themselves, and think that's ok. It's not. This institution is ridiculous. Do not put your money there, it will only get lost.Review from Shand M

Absolutely HORRIBLEEMBARRASSING. From 8/19-8/20 (so far) currently I am experiencing the same devastation. I cannot access my funds because of a banking update . No ATM, I cannot make purchases, I am on vacation and literally in tears because I cant get gas or feed my family . I am literally trying to get back home by borrowing money and I have plenty in my account. Never have I been so embarrassed as sitting having a meal and cannot pay- I AM BEYOND LIVID!!!!!!!! Tomorrow I am taking my business elsewhere and will never bank with this place again!Landmark Credit Union Response

Been trying to make payments on current account and called and talked with them. They said we can make payments online or in their app. Went on both it kept giving my an error message. So I called to talk with them they now charged me a late fee and and convenience charge to make the payment. Told them an error message kept coming up preventing me from making the payment on time. Then the guy on the phone told me they are aware of the issues but yet they still charged me all these extra fees because their system is not working properly. Then he processed to tell me I can go to a branch to make the payment mind you the closest branch to me is almost an hour away! The reason why I chose to make online payments! I would highly recommend using a different financial institution at all costs. They charge you bogus fees due to their system failure.Review from Cynthia K

I am SO fed up w/ LCU, I am being pushed to submit a QWR Qualified Written Request to open an investigation as to Section 226.36(c) of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board) re adopted amendments to Regulation Z in 2008 and 2010 that impose new compliance requirements on loan servicers for crediting mortgage payments and on creditors for crediting open-end credit payments. This letter will call out as to the practices of Landmarks' online banking systems per the following. For years, the online system did not correctly show the late fees they had been charging us until the switch to the new digital banking system. They posted several of our payments on a later date than we had paid online. This caused late fees they neglected to show us on a paper statement OR online until the digital banking upgrade. These compounded charges showed up as a lump sum in addition to our monthly payment. When I inquired both in writing & over the phone, they stated "that was not an option on our old system to show you these charges. Sorry. You need to pay them to remain in good standing." We paid them under protest to no avail. Now we are fighting them to change our account phone number in timely fashion so we can get the TWO CODES needed to make an online payment. I did what they asked, sent 3 emails to m^^^^^^^landmarkcu.com and have no response in over 60 hours. It is as if they don't want to help so the payment becomes late because i can't access our account. And I can't access our account because THEY WON'T HELP ME CHANGE THE PHONE NUMBER! So basic, it's mindboggling. Do note that I can't send an email to a LCU inbox because I can't access our account (which is the only way to get an email to them securely per online). I called 7/12/23 but they said can't do it over the phone (but could take our payment for a $10 ACH fee), I emailed the letter they asked for to change it, but no response in over 60 hours. This company is awful and I would NEVER take a loan from them again. I tried to close out an auto loan, but the amount remaining was above the online transfer limit, so I figured I would just do the weekly limit a couple weeks in a row until it was paid off. I submitted the payment from the same account that does the automatic monthly payment. But Landmark claimed "the account could not be found" so the money was never applied, even though the website said everything was successful. It has now been several weeks and under one tab on their website it says the amount was never applied, and shows the proper remaining loan amount, but under another tab the payment is still listed as "successful." I decided to go pay in person since this was such a huge, unnecessary pain. I paid with a check the full remaining balance. When I went to confirm on the website, all information on the loan completely disappeared. The loan SHOULD be listed with the full payment history and show that it was closed out. Instead it is simply gone. However, under one tab, it still lists as "successful" the original payment that never went through, but does not list anywhere the ACTUAL final payment. They made it as difficult as possible to close out my loan, probably so they could get more interested, even though it states in the loan agreement there is no penalty for paying early.
