They advertise free federal and not free state. What they DON'T advertise ANYWHERE is that if you need to make an amended federal return, you will be forced to pay $15 with zero notice or time to prepare otherwise. Disgusting behavior. Imagine someone being incredibly stressed, trying to do something important in a hurry, and then ******* to them mid-way and demanding cash out of nowhere. Won't use them this year and it's your own fault if you do.

I tried to file my federal tax return with the Free 1040 Tax Return as recommended by the **** Once I completed loading all my information, I was pleased to see that not only my Federal was done but my state. However, I still had questions about 2 sections in the Federal. The first question was how to show 12DD on the W2 form. The second question was how to show a ****-B or ****-C since their program only referenced the ****-A. On both questions I was to to follow the directions on the screens. When I explained there were no directions to reference these areas, supports response was again the same.... follow the directions on the screens. I figured that I would bypass their so called response and continue with my returns. After reviewing my returns, I found their tax tables for both *************** were wrong. I advised support of the wrong information and asked when these could be updated. Support said the information had to do with what I entered as totals to their form. I don't know what idiot was responding to my question but no matter what total you end up with, the tax table info should reference the same amount in both the program that Free1040TaxReturn.com provides and the *** tax table. In both the State and Federal, their totals were wrong. I have since deleted my information from their system; however, the *** of this program should be aware of two issues:#1- Customer support needs to start being a real customer support rather than pushing the problem back on the customer to try to figure it out while customer support sits on their duff collecting a pay check for doing nothing.#2 - They need to update their program to show the correct tax table for future users and to keep checking to see if the *** has done any updates which could affect the totals.#3 - Customer support needs to learn to listen to their customers. I will be advising everyone to use any other programs because the support and program are less than adequate.

I found this software via the *** website and thought they were a good idea since I didn't want to overpay and I can do the taxes myself but don't need the pizzaz other tax software offers. I am a ** resident and saw on their website, "State Returns starting as soon as Jan 15th: MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NY, SC." It's February 24th and I reached out to them and asked them when this will be available. I rec'd a response same day, "As our site shows, we do not have ** state returns available." I don't think the person saw their own website because it does say, the state returns will be available..so why give a date then? Just say you don't support it period. I also find the person who is answering it not familiar with their own software. I asked them where I can change the standard deduction versus the itemized deduction so I can amend my return and they said, "Since the software is designated by the *** as DIY (Do it yourself), and questions will appear in different areas for different users, you will need to start with the filing status screen and read each screen carefully for the area to input this information." However, if you start from the beginning, it's in the Family Questionaire... which is the 2nd screen. It's not different since the software would ask this question to everyone. Overall, I really wish the *** didn't list this business as software to use. I 100% regret using them since I have to paper-file my ** return.
