We were seeking medical services from Eating Recovery Center for our son. He is covered under my insurance. He completed a full lengthy intake over the phone. It was recommended he enroll in inpatient services and the estimated length of service was 4-6 weeks. We were told the maximum out of pocket expense would be $2,000, after they reviewed my insurance. Our son entered the program. After approximately 10 days, his primary provider told us she was leaving the program. At 2 weeks she left the program. There was no continuity of care with his new primary case manger. At her exit, his new case manager told us ******* was being reviewed for exit from the program in a few days. He was exited from the program at less than 3 weeks after we were told he would be there a minimum of 4 weeks, after he had been pre-screened with our insurance. We were told our insurance then determined he did not meet medical necessity, after they told us he was already approved prior to entrance. After our son was discharged, we received a **** for $2,748.00. We questioned this **** and ERC told us it was an error on our insurance and that they would reduce the ****. We continue to receive the same **** in the same amount. We did not receive the care that was proposed and we are being billed far in excess of what we were told. We feel this was a bait and switch program and there is fraudulent billing occurring. We also requested a summary of why our son was exited early and why his depression was not addressed appropriately while in the program. We have not received any follow up as promised.
