    I have already filed a complaint against this business due to them not wanting to take a email notice through their portal to not renew a lease and trying to make us stay an additional 60 days. After filing my first complaint they immediately called us stating they would take our email as notice. Our complete move out date was April 30th. After renting from them since 2019 we gave them a total of $2,400 in security deposits which we have still not received back yet. Actually it has been more than $2,400 because when we moved to a bigger unit within their business they charged us l hundreds of our security deposit for painting and shampooing the carpets. Which I thought was a requirement of all renters before a new tenant moved in. Regardless we have been completely moved out of the townhouse since April 30, 2023 and still have not received our deposit back. After multiple issues with the townhouse while we lived there for example a pipe busting in the laundry room 3 times, each time them “repairing” it which included spraying the soaked wall with a type of paint coverup where mold began to grow. Then left the huge hole in the wall and floor where they “repaired” the pipes that busted. Along with ceilings to bedrooms and hallway that leaked water from an upstairs bathroom which was also sprayed with some type of paint to cover it. This is only a few of the issues we encountered with this business. Amongst neighbors that continually complained of the same issues. A number of issues my husband fixed himself because we got tired of trying to get them to fix it. So therefore I am extremely upset about them holding now $2,400 of our hard earned money for a month and a half after we moved out as they have already had new tenants move in. I have made sure that no one I know will ever do business with them ever. I would like our security deposit back asap. Thank you.

    Rental itself was very nice, but move out experience has been terrible. They are very clearly just holding our deposit as long as legally possibly (surely because they do this with everyone's and make interest on it). I have called multiple times to figure out if/how much of a damage deposit I will be getting back and they just say "legally we don't have to do anything for 45 days", and that they will mail us a check (or not?) at 45 days. No one has ever noted if there were any deficiencies on the inspection, and now they have clearly rented the unit again so if there are I won't be able to make any sort of claim or prove that we moved out (after three years of tenancy) with the unit in great condition. What they are doing is incredibly unprofessional, and quite honestly should be illegal. It is insane they can hold my deposit for 45 days after I move out even though the move out inspection has been complete and new tenants have moved in. it is now past the 45 days and I still don't have my money and when I called they claimed to have mailed and it asked me to keep waiting, but could not provide a check number. It has now been 51 days... I still don't have my money or any reports of damage at my unit. Oh also - there was a murder suicide in our townhouse unit that was never disclosed to us, and when we discovered it ourselves (after signing the lease) and brought it up moving in they were like "oh was that that unit?" and attempted to downplay it... however when moving out the person who was inspecting the unit was very honest about it. I will spare the details as I don't want them to get in trouble because they were actually nice and helpful. In addition, we paid a premium to be on "month to month", but were legally required to give 60 days’ notice. I understand this is the absolute legal maximum they can get away with in Virginia, but quite honestly its incredible unfair and unprofessional…why did we both paying a premium to be on “month to month”? Incredibly unprofessional staff all around, which is a shame because it is actually a nice rental, but I'd avoid this company at all costs again given all of the above things.
