August 19th I traded my 2015 dodge journey with 94000 k on the odometer for a 2015 dodge Ram 4x4 pick up truck so my wife and I could buy a camper and spend summers relaxing and camping . I’ve driven this truck a couple times the first time it stalled doing 124k in the passing lane on the 403 I had no brakes and no steering it was all I could do to wrestle this truck off the highway and not get killed by fast approaching transport trucks my wife nearly had a major anxiety attack it’s scared us pretty bad after the truck slowed to about 15 kilometres per hour it restarted by itself then dropped from drive to 6th gear by itself , I contacted 5Star and returned the truck suggesting I want my journey back they can have their truck back and was promptly told NO that’s not how this goes here after multiple excuses reasons why this truck that I’m stuck with isn’t fixed after 4 months of everyone telling me to be patient I want this nightmare over with, I’ve told them I want a truck at this point I’ve been frustrated beyond reason DO NOT BUY ANYTHING HERE its not worth this much frustration and excuses.Review from Lindsay A

Upon a recommendation to 5 star dealers, I called them for a car. They told me that they would apply for financing, an hour later they called me back. Said I had been approved for 20,000 dollar limit and to pick out a car.. they asked for a copy of my license and pay stubs. I went through the site, picked one out. They drew up the paperwork, I sent over my documents. They sent me the lease for the car. Which was a 2019 Nissan Sentra. Starting price was 23,995. At the bottom line it said 63,155.76. Almost triple the cost. After reviewing and signing I said no Thankyou… they tried to argue with me for 3 days saying financing had already been approved and they had the funds until I told them I was reporting to BBB, they also knew that I was a g1 driver and couldn’t get insurance on the vehicle and therefore it would be sitting for 2 months before pick up as insurance is required. Upon talking to the lender they “went through” I found out the financing had in fact NOT been released nor approved yet. Upon threats of BBB they shredded the paperwork and called me an hour after to tell me that they had scrapped my file and were “sorry for the inconvenience”. **** *** ***** *** ******** . I am a car dealer in Nova Scotia and found a truck on 5 star website that our customer was looking to buy. Both myself and my sales manager had dealt with **** about buying this truck for our customer. We agreed to pay the full asking price for the truck, we were then advised to send a $500 etransfer as we were told they would not take a credit card. This was the first thing that seemed strange and had me thinking that something funny was going on with the transaction. I went ahead and sent the $500 etransfer and requested a bill of sale be sent to us, we received the bill of sale and it did not have my $500 deposit listed. This again seemed very odd, I repeatedly requested it come off the bottom line and still have not got a proper bill of sale. I called **** and he said that's the way they do things and he would send a separate receipt for the $500, which we have never received. I then advised **** that I would be sending a certified check with the 500 deducted by courier and once the check was received I would send a truck to ship the truck to Nova Scotia.
We confirmed they had our check a few days later and we arranged to have our shipping company pickup a few days later. The shipping company arrived and we were given the runaround that my bank was holding the funds from our CERTIFIED CHECK. After many calls to the bank and to 5 stars bank they agreed to release the truck. The truck arrived at our service department a few days later, then to discover the transmission is gone in the truck and it's a $4,000 plus cost to repair. We then sent the truck to a transmission shop for a second opinion and they determined the fluids had all been just replaced likely try and cover up the transmission issue. We have contacted **** and he basically ignored us and said the truck had been looked at in February and said nothing wrong with the transmission. I would be very cautious in dealing with this company, a 1 STAR is too high of a review.5 Stars Dealers Response

I do not feel this review is accurate, we sell a lot of vehicles retail most to the same customers or referrals and ones without factory warranty always offer the customer a chance to purchase a warranty as used vehicles like everything break down. This vehicle was sold wholesale dealer to dealer with no warranty and had no transmission issues when it left here. This is a 7 year old 3/4 Ton work vehicle with 184,284 kilometres and anything can break at any time. We are sorry to hear about the problems you are having but the vehicle was fine when it left here. As far as the funds, we were only going by what their bank was telling us and I am sure as a dealer they would not release a vehicle especially going to another province without confirming payment first.Customer Response

First of all I paid full price and the transmission was gone when it arrived so wholesale or retail who would pay full price. I have not received one call back and have sent many emails and left many messages. All this dealer does is hope the situation goes away and has not made any attmept to resolve. They write what looks good to the public in their reviews and do nothing. Once again it is unfortunate that this happened but we are not responsible in anyway. Yes we were asking $31444. for the vehicle and *************** paid $31,444.00 plus HST $4716 and licensing $200 for a total of $36,360.00 and not a penny more. We we given e transfer of $500 our receipt number ***** dated 4 Mar 22 and a cheque for $35,860.60 our receipt number ***** dated 15 mar 22 for a total of $36,360.00. This vehicle was advertised to sell retail but *************** offered to pay the retail price if we wholesaled the vehicle to them which we normally do not do but because it was going to Nova Scotia and we would not lose a retail customer we agreed to sell it to them wholesale dealership to dealership with no warranty implied. The wholesale bos was signed by ************ from *************** 8 Mar 22. When we had this vehicle there was no problems with the transmission. Our owner has been given all this information and agrees that 5 Stars Dealers Inc did nothing wrong but as it is another dealership that purchased the vehicle and then this problem came up after delivery and *************** paid full price that he would be willing to help out with their problem and e transfer $1500 to help offset cost to them. If *************** agrees to this in a reply to these comments within 7 days with an email to e transfer the money too, we will send it.

$1500 is not an acceptable amount to help offset costs. T
The truck was picked up by the shipping company - on March 24th, 2022, it was delivered to our location in Nova Scotia on March 28th, 2022.
Our mechanic brought it in to be inspected immediately and the transmission issue was discovered immediately. We brought it directly to ******************* (a third party) for their diagnosis and contacted the seller - 5 Star Dealers to advise them of the issue. They sold a vehicle with transmission problems and did not disclose it.
We spent $4800 at the ******************* ; as well as an additional $1600 in our own garage doing some of the work to try and reduce the bill from *******************. I will email these 2 invoice directly to 5 Star.
5 Star should be paying the entire ******************* bill - $4832.19 not an offer of less than 30% of the cost. We are not asking for them to cover our own garage costs of $1600. But they sold us a vehicle with a bad transmission, and they know it.

Claim to finance everyone. I have decent credit (above 600)and they strung me along. Very, very unprofessional. Demanded my SIN number and refused to help without it. (I had to go to CRA and report it after I stupidly complied) Leave you in the dark and then pass the buck so to speak to you and blame you for giving red flags. Do not let you advocate for yourself and then just ignore you. Aside from trust and having to report my SIN to CRA, I am lucky I didn't give them any money. They have all of my banking information and I am currently changing it. **********************************************.
