Westmark Exterminating Consumer Alert

March 30, 2016

BBB Serving Western Michigan has issued a consumer alert related to local exterminating company, Westmark Exterminating, located in Wyoming, Michigan. Westmark’s BBB Accreditation was revoked by BBB on March 30, 2016.

The company had a clean track record with the BBB for 12 years under former ownership.  However, with an apparent recent transition in ownership, the BBB has received 3 complaints from consumers that have gone unanswered, and their BBB Business Review grade has now fallen to an F.

  • In one complaint, a consumer hired the company to exterminate bed bugs.  A spray used by the company reportedly discolored the bedroom set in various spots, and the company refused to return to complete the extermination or to view damage.
  • A second complaint says a consumer paid for a service contract for the 2015 season and they were only serviced twice.  The consumer states that chemicals damaged property and the company refuses to return the consumer’s calls.   This consumer states that they have used Westmark  Exterminating for 15 years with no problems prior to the past few months.
  • The third complaint states they hired Westmark to remove bed bugs; however, the bugs were not exterminated. The consumer had to hire another company because Westmark stopped responding to consumer’s calls, emails, and text messages.  The complaint also alleges the company was paid twice and the business returned the over-payment with a check that bounced.
