On July 25 me and my family purchased tickets for Larry Park zoo. I was so excited on taking them. When I ride to the zoo most of the attractions and amenities were closed. There was very little to do where that they offered. A lot of animals were very hard to see sport if you could see them at all. The animals that we were able to see were unable to move. I was so excited to show my kids the park but they seemed on interested. We got swarmed by bees and my son got stung so we had to leave early. The bees took over the recycling bin. And when we went to try to recycle our cups that we got no lives with straws with your swarmed with bees. And when we went to try to recycle our cups that we got no lives with straws with your swarmed with bees. This was very frustrating for all of us. My son was screaming and his leg swelled up almost instantly. I really wish they would do better with the situation. There's bees everywhere.

Spend $122.85 for 3 tickets to the zoo on 04/21/2022. So disappointed with the whole day.
Upon entering, got a map of the exhibits. Saw that the zoo was laid out like the **************** in San Diego, which I have visited on many occasions Here most of the animal's exhibits were empty. The Expedition Wild Africa was a 90 minute wait. Seems like you could sign up/book upon entering the zoo to better control the attraction for the daily zoo park visitors. Also upon closer examination, there is room to put in a tram. Got in line for the Roaring Springs Ride around 2PM - only to have it close down for rest of the day.
We were there till closing time for the day. I would say that 90% of the concession stands closed some where between 2 & 3PM, making it impossible to get a cold drink.
I have been in alot of zoos over my lifetime, but this 1 is a poor excuse to even call itself a zoo.
I am from St Louis, MO, ours is free, parking IS NOT. Best thing that could happen for the Tampa Zoo is to fire all of the management team & go back to the drawing board.
I am 72 years old & over my lifetime I have visited many zoo parks in many states, but this 1 is by far the worst, to even be calling itself a zoo.

At ZooTampa we value the input of our guests and appreciate the opportunity to respond to your comments. Providing a positive guest experience is important to us and we track the closure of all areas of the Zoo. On the day of your visit, we had a large group of constituents from our surrounding counties who visited the Zoo as part of National Tourism Week which delayed the public opening of Expedition Wild Africa and caused longer than usual wait times in the afternoon. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

In addition, due to a confirmed case of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) on a wild bird in our county and to ensure the safety of the animals in our care, some aviaries and habitats are temporarily closed. While these safety modifications only affect less than 20% of our habitats, we recognize that combined with the delays, your visit to our Zoo was not what we pride ourselves on providing our guests every day. Therefore, we would like to offer you the opportunity to return to ZooTampa at no charge (tickets valid for a visit by 5/3/23 have been left under your name at Will Call). We hope you visit us again soon and experience unforgettable natural connections with amazing animals.

      Customer Response

You may take the tickets out of will call. I won't be returning to the Tampa area any time soon. Even if I did, I have no interest in repeating a trip to a zoo that is on a scale of 1 to 10, no better than a 2. Your zoo is in need of a complete overhaul. I have visited about 25 zoos over my life time. The San Diego Wild Animal Park is the best one in the USA, in my opinion. Yours however was depressing. Even the locals I spoke to while visiting yours didn't give it a very high rating or marks.
Since I Paid $122.85 for nothing, I would appreciate a refund or a partial refund of the amount paid.
And do the zoo a favor and address the closed concession stand problem before someone is seriously injured & 9-1-1 has to be called.
Florida is hot & humid, people need to be able to get liquids; cold drinks especially. The tap water there is awful tasting.
