I used Dan P. at ******** in 2019. He joined USA Tax Accounting on 9140 Corsea Wy, Ste 100, Naples, FL XXXXX, so I went to him in 2020. He did my business taxes/S Corp. At our meeting he told me that I could claim losses from my S Corp under my personal taxes for the last 2 years under a new law. He asked me a lot of questions about the S Corp at our personal meeting and said he believed I qualified, to send over my Quickbooks P&Ls, stocks, other reports. I dropped them off. They got lost and the subject was never bought up again - just gone, no replies to inquiries. This involved a possible ten thousand dollar deduction.
Meanwhile his emails were going to spam and directly into the trash probably because their email address looks like spam ending in "ustaxacc.com." I had added him to safe sender, and to contacts right away, some of the emails went through but not about 8 of them. He was making a lot of other odd mistakes and my experience was very different from the year before. In asking for specifics about the the ten thousand dollar deduction $10k loss I would be able to claim on my personal taxes from my S Corp, I was told I did not qualify. I asked why specifically. I got a generic tutorial that did not seem to apply to the law and that was not about my personal specific situation, which I bought up subsequently. I was in finance. I understand financial conversation very well and I'm a perfectionist about the organization of my taxes. He sent an article about the law which I had already read. I told him I read it and it looked like I qualified, why, specifically, did I not qualify? He didn't respond. I asked over and over and got no response. I have all this correspondence. I asked him if he was well, was he having trouble somewhere as I was genuinely concerned? Then I heard nothing. I assumed he was busy and was going to answer when he had time. Nothing. That was the end of May 2021. I emailed upper mgmt November 8, 2021. They forwarded an email from May from Dan P. saying he resigned which I did not get - it went to trash I assume. Dan P. said my taxes were at the front desk in May. Yesterday after mgmt, Jay H.' email, I asked if they had my taxes. I asked if they would throw out original taxes? I asked why, if Dan P. knew I was having trouble with his emails going through, did he not call or text when I did not respond or pick them up. End result - I've asked mgmt (Jay H.) two or three times if they had my taxes as I was upset that they may have been thrown out. He is not responding. I asked for a brief one sentence answer; Mr. H.has not responded. I guess USA Tax Accounting in Naples, FL throws out original taxes with original receipts despite having email bounce backs and trash problems known to the accountant. They also don't answer specific questions. It was a completely confusing experience and I'm not confused by finance. I'd never recommend them. I often provide resources to people. People deserve specific answers to clear specific questions, not - no reply - I resign = to the trash.

This client refused to provide information necessary for completion of her tax return, preferring to argue instead. Dan P. then notified her that he was withdrawing from the engagement and that her records were available to be picked up. He had filed an extension for her that gave her until 10/15/21 to have someone else prepare her return, well after her May 2021 notification that she would have to take her work somewhere else. When she made her recent inquiry, she was provided a copy of that termination email which clearly said that she needed to come in to pick up her records. She was also informed that there would be no further communication from us about this. She then sent a flurry of emails evidencing disregard of what she had clearly just been told. Since she had been advised that there would be no further communication on this subject, her emails were not answered. Her records are safely here, waiting for her to act on the May 2021 notification that she needed to come in and pick them up. We are obligated by law to withdraw from any engagement where the client does not cooperate, and that is what happened here. The original email sent to her regarding termination was at the end of a long string of emails back and forth, evidencing that she was receiving communications from Dan. She just chose to ignore his final reply.

Incorrect, I provided everything. I was waiting for an explanation only then I was going to sign - a simple discussion. I contributed all the capital to my S Corp from my personal funds. A simple call to discuss would have resolved this, then I only needed to sign. I have that email. I was never arguing. I was asking for an explanation as I stated above; his answers were confusing and non specific. That's all. That's not an argument. An extension was filed at my request waiting for the explanation only. I paid the estimated balance but was not copied on the extension paperwork and was not told there was a deadline for it. On May 17th (after conversations that his emails were going directly to trash), I sent a single email called "fyi - spam - usataxacc." Emails continued as sporadically lost and were resent. Subsequently I did not receive his resignation and there had been no discussion of a resignation or indication that there was a problem.

    1. Since I did not receive Dan P's email saying there would be no further communication/resignation - I got in touch on November 8th, of course by email not know anything was wrong, to find out what was going on. I thought he left the company. I wouldn't call that disregard. 2. The only response I received from Mr. H. on November 8th was a copy of the resignation email. It did say no further communication on an email from May that I did not receive but I have a right to know if they were still holding my taxes now in November. I was very polite 3. I did explain in reply (2 short paragraphs) and asked if the extension expired, explained that many of the "usataxacc.com" emails were being auto-trashed so that Mr. H. would understand my 2 questions and why I was writing - did the extension expire? do you still have my taxes at your office? I just had 2 simple valid business questions. 4. Finally I sent 2 one or two sentence emails asking where my taxes where, did they throw them out? No response. So I now have a response but I had to write to BBB to get it. I'm glad I did now.
I asked for my taxes back. No response. I asked again. No response. Finally, there was no arguing. I was asking for an answer to a question that Dan was not answering in a way I understood. Mr. H. is implying I am lying about the emails going to trash. I find that unprofessional. There was no arguing on November 8th; I just wanted a resolution. There is no disregard in this situation - not answering "Does the extension expire?" and "Do you have my taxes?" deserves resolution using polite business protocol: a simple polite answer. Now I know you have my taxes. We could have avoided all this if you just said - "Dear Mrs. S., I'm very sorry about the misunderstanding. Yes, don't worry, you can pick up your taxes at the desk. Just give a call and they'll be there. Thank you, Regards." Instead - I'm not telling you that we have your taxes. I'm not telling you extensions are 6 months. I'm not answering and I'm going to imply you are a liar about not receiving the resignation email. So I will find a knowledgeable firm, highly regarded who knows how to explain a tax concept in regard to my specific question. I'm sure answering tax questions comes up as a part of the job. Tax accountants should be able to answer questions. I'll call before I stop by to pick them up. I would still never recommend you in light of all your unprofessional responses. I believe people should know these things.

This is a perfect example of why our firm declined to do any additional work for this individual. Clear statements to her are stated to be unclear by way of a long, convoluted argument. She was told by Dan that we would not proceed and that she should come in to pick up her records. There was never any further communication from our office that would have made that any less clear. No further discussion was necessary and she was informed that none would be taking place. Her words are ample evidence of the reason that we would no longer deal with her.

My new accountant says I was right (he noticed it immediately without me saying anything) and the amount I am owed was not included in 2019 or 2020. That's why I had a hard time accepting Dan's answer and why I was trying to work through it. He's wrong. I'm getting my deduction going forward and your accountant's error for 2019 and 2020 - totaling about $10,000 will be applied for 2021. Thank you BBB

    12/21/2021

Since our firm did not prepare an individual return for this individual for 2019 or 2020, this customer comment is pure nonsense.

    12/21/2021

Dan P. did my tax return in 2019 at HR Block. He then left and in 2020 worked for USA Tax Accounting. This whole discussion is about his attempt to do my taxes in 2020 which he was unable to do correctly. He didn't finish my 2020 taxes because he was doing them incorrectly and - see above. I didn't realize he perpetuated the error in 2019 at HR Block until the new accountant brought it to my attention

    U.S. Tax Accounting, LLC Response

    12/27/2021

These comments need to be directed to Dan P's BBB account, not U.S. Tax Accounting, Inc. These issues have nothing to do with us.

He works for USA Tax Accounting.
My business account bill is from USA Tax Accounting.
    Emails: ****************
3/15/21 payment for services for my S Corp, in the amount of $430. paid to U.S. Tax Accounting
Invoice number ***** document heading: U.S. Tax Accounting, LLC, 9140 Corsea Del Fontana Way Ste 100, Naples, FL 34109 (239) 597-7009

The invoice and payment do not mention Dan P. anywhere. His emails are from your firm. Invoice and copy of payment available upon request. I met him with him at your office and only corresponded with him through US Tax Accounting.

    U.S. Tax Accounting, LLC Response

    01/04/2022

The complaints about Dan P. refer to individual tax return preparation, not S Corporation return preparation. This whole line of complaint is thoroughly dishonest.

    Customer Response

    01/05/2022

USA Tax Accounting was hired to prepare my S Corp and using my S Corp, prepare my Fed return. You were hired to prepare both. Of course, that's the way everyone does there returns. Their accountant does both. If you dispute that, then that's what I have done for my whole life. I hired your employee to do both. Period. I think that's clear from the aforementioned. Calling me dishonest is unprofessional.
