I am writing this on behalf of my 84 yr old mother who called AMS Roofing as they advertise in our Mobile Home Park newsletter they install vinyl windows. She called AMS in Feb 2022 the area manager Marlen Matthews came out to give the quote. He went through his spiel, said it would take one day for installation, gave my mother the quote of $5,500 (round numbers), my mother asked him 3 times about the door to the lanai making sure the door would have the vinyl windows installed he assured her they would. Install begin in mid April took 4 days and was not completed. Marlen returned stated the door was not included on the invoice and that he explained to us when he was out in February that we would need to buy a new door and AMS charged $800-$900 we'd be better getting it at Home Depot and installing it ourselves, said their company didn't install vinyl on doors which they do he didn't know it He never mentioned the need to buy a new one, nor that his company did not install vinyl on the doors, otherwise we wouldn't have hired AMS. I spoke to Warren, Marlen's boss who said it would be 4 wks for door inserts and $300 when they came in they were wrong size. One screen had a run in it asked them to replace it. I canceled the door inserts, been waiting since May for screen replacement and have called Warren every week only to get same excuse "they are short-handed" and "weather has put them behind." It's now August spoke with Warren Aug 12 asked if I hired someone to replace the screen would he reimburse me the cost, he agreed but wanted to know the price first. I called a company Friday, they came Tuesday, Aug 16, replaced the screen for $50, I called Warren Aug 17th he was not in Chuck called me back said someone would be calling me to schedule the screen replacement I advised Chuck my conversation with Warren the week before that he agreed to pay for the screen to be replaced, it had been taken care of, and to send me a check for $50. Not sure I'll receive the check.

Let me start by saying I am a 62 year old single woman. Andy came out on2/25/21 & gave me an estimate of $3839.00 to repair my carport I asked about & finance , he looked at me like I was crazy, he stumbled on his works & said he would 600 down to finance. I asked about a warranty, again he looked at me like I was crazy, I told him his company advertises a warranty. he said well if something happened maybe within a couple of months after the completed work. I told him I was still getting estimates & would get back to him. After 3 days of calling other companies (8 to be exact I was told they didn't do aluminum carports only metal) So I called Andy back. I found out whenever you call that company you can never speak with anyone, they have an answering service. It took me 3 calls to get a return call from Andy, I should've know at that point I would have issues. We scheduled a date for him to come by for me to sign the contract & pay the deposit of $1239. We ended up having to reschedule twice because he couldn't make it. One time I even left work early to meet him but 10 minutes before our appt he calls & tells me he hurt his back the day before & was on his way to a chiropractor. Another time he called me an hour before out appointment & said he had a toothache & was on his way to the dentist. Finally he shows up. Now mind you I have never had to do anything like this on my own before. I look over the contract, sign it & give him the deposit . I ask when will work begin, he said 12 weeks! He said he has to order materials and there is a shortage of aluminum. Well 12 wks. later I get a call, they can start in 3 weeks, then 2 weeks later not sure when they can start because they have no workers. During that time I had a family emergency up north & was leaving the next day. That afternoon they called & said they can do the job tomorrow ( the day I was leaving) I said no & explained my situation. I was told I did not have to be home while they did the work. I said yes I do . Turned out I was going to need to move back home up north. I call & tell this to Andy & requested a refund.. Out of the $1239 deposit I only$286.79 back. Andy said there were materials they could not use anywhere else. This is a company who does carports and they could not use these materials? Change of events meant I was able to stay here & was lucky enough to find someone else who did the work for only $1700. AMS is the worst company out there. I feel they saw a single woman and they swooped in for the kill. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you a single woman.
