All the staff I spoke to at Gettel Nissan were courteous and professional. However, I feel Gettel Nissan's marketing is deceptive, and it led me to purchase a vehicle which abruptly failed in an unsafe manner. I purchased a pre-owned 2013 Nissan Sentra from Gettel Nissan in August 2022. The vehicle was under 10 years old and it had under 60,000 miles, which qualified the vehicle for the Gettel Certified Plus vehicle program. According to Gettel's website, "Each Gettel Certified vehicle has undergone a comprehensive bumper-to-bumper inspection by the certified mechanics in our service department who carefully examine every detail of a vehicle." Additionally, Gettel certified vehicles come with a 3-month, 3,000 mile limited warranty. When purchasing the vehicle, the Gettel Certified Plus label gave me assurance that I was purchasing a quality pre-owned vehicle. In December 2022, 3,500 miles after purchase, one of the vehicle's front struts failed due to rust in the upper strut housing. The rust was caused by the shape of the upper strut mount, which resulted in water pooling under the hood where the strut mounts to the vehicle's frame. This vehicle design flaw is well documented online for multiple Nissan vehicle models. Googling "Nissan strut housing rust" demonstrates the extensiveness of this rust issue. I inspected the car for rust prior to purchase, and I ignorantly missed spotting the rust damage which caused the strut failure. Due to the generally slow development of vehicle rust, I believe this rust damage existed when I purchased the vehicle. I'm writing this review because I believe a bumper-to-bumper inspection by a Nissan certified mechanic would have diagnosed this well documented issue prior to failure.

Intentionally misrepresented Vehicles use prior to purchase light on contract stating amount of owners and what the vehicle was used for come to find out they were well aware of the vehicle was used as a fleet rental vehicle I never would have made this purchase had I known that they refused to honor their three-day exchange policy they refused to abide by their 90 day warranty they refuse to abide by their service contract they are not able to call a vehicle a certified pre-owned vehicle if it wasn't manufactured by them but yet they did the car has been on fire since they refuse to do anything about it and now say I have no advisor there they neglected to give me the additional key fob they neglected to do any of the work needed to be done to drive the vehicle currently going through chemotherapy for breast cancer and this vehicle is making me sick or missing appointments due to not being able to Drive the vehicle for fear of Fire againReview from James M

I recently had a poor serve experience with Gettel Nissan in Sarasota. I made a 30,000 service appointment on-line, which I scheduled from July 28th. I dropped the car off a day early (July 27th), and the Service Representative indicated that they could have the service done that same day. Great start.
The service representative wrote up the work order. I added new wiper blades to the request, which they added. I was very surprised that the "estimate" was for over $700. It seemed to me the online site showed half of that amount, but I didn't have any way to check. Later that day I picked up the car and was given an invoice for $723.54. I went home and checked the online price. It showed a cost of $375.84 - almost $350 less than I was charged. So today (July 28th) I went back to the dealer and asked for the Service Manager for an explanation. His reply to me was that I signed the estimate. The Service Representative that I had originally worked with was also standing there and said the online price was for a "Schedule-1" class of service, and that Gettle had done a premium version of that that included changing transmission fluids. The Service Rep never explained this to me or made me aware of alternatives at the time he presented the estimate. I simply wanted the "Nissan recommended" service, and the additional work is not part of that - it's a premium level of service. I would have passed on anything extra.
What we apparent have is an "up-sale" tactic that the Service Rep did to me, and that the Service Manager defended when I went back for an explanation. This feels like a form of fraud. My on-line service request reflected the Schedule-1 service, plus wiper blades - not a premium service level.
For $350, Gettel has permanently lost me as a customer (and that includes the Gettel Toyota dealership that I have bought two cars from).Gettel Nissan Response

The customer scheduled an appointment on line for a Schedule 1 30,000 service. At time of reception additional recommendations were made and offered a discounted rate with completion of services reserved. Additional items were approved, added to the work order, the customer signed the document with along with new estimate. The customer left for six hours while the work was being completed. Upon return the services were reviewed again and with no additional questions we received payment in full. A day or so later the customer returned to the dealership with the questions of services completed. We attempted to review the authorized services again but was informed by the customer that if the money was not refunded we would loose a customer permanently. We feel with proper authorization shown with signatures and estimates on work order documents along with review and signatures and payment in full at time of pick up this does not warrant a refund.Customer Response

I dispute their claim that "additional recommendations were made and offered a discounted rate with completion of services reserved". No explanation was made of additional service items that Gettel would "recommend". Instead, the Service Rep simply generated an estimate and I signed. I felt the price was too high but needed to go home and review Gettel service website. No dispute about the services being performed. The dispute lies with the fact that no alternative service was discussed at all. They "chose" to upscale my service trying to get away with slight of hand tactics.Review from Tracy C

One star is one too many. The sales department is very dishonest. I was going to buy out my lease and had the amount due with taxes and fees emailed to me. Went to buy it the next day and they decided to add $1200 to the cost. Their word ( even on paper ) means nothing!! Puke never do business with them again!!Review from Levi P

In short, I had a horrible experience with this dealership. I purchased a used Honda Civic here and ten days later it started leaking coolant and overheating. Now I can't prove that it had the issue before I bought it. They said they inspected it and it came back clean. I wasn't going to write a bad review or make a huge deal out of it cause stuff happens. However, I did want to talk to them about it to see if we could work something out. I drive down there and meet with Tyler so I could finish some paperwork and I mention that the car is pretty much dead in my yard. He asks if I can get it towed down for them to look at it, implying that he'd work with me and see what was going on with it. If it was something minor then it was implied that they could probably fix it. If it was something major then I could explore getting into a certified used car with a warranty. I was open to either one of these options, I just wanted my problem solved. So, I get the car towed down and I get no call for the rest of the day. I call the next day and the service department doesn't know anything about my car. I then talk to Chuck in the Service Department and he says that the Sales Manager said that I bought the car AS-IS and I have to pay $150 for them to diagnose it. I tell him that this is not what Tyler told me the day before. They stick with their position and want $150 to diagnose the car, so I arrange for AAA to tow my car back to a mechanic near my house that charges $59 to diagnose the issue. This dealership sold me a car that died after 10 days. Maybe that's just bad luck, but maybe it was not. Regardless, I just wanted to work with them to solve the problem. They could have gotten the profit off of the original car and another sale from me getting into another car. Instead, they get this review. Please beware before doing business with this dealership. From my experience, they don't work with their customers when something goes wrong.
