I was amazed to learn Ascensus will not do a direct plan-to-plan rollover of 401(k) assets to an established IRA. I don't like the idea of having a check mailed to me - checks go astray; mail gets lost; checks get stolen. Now I'm on hold with them once again, and it's 1-1/2 hours and counting. I left a call-back number but no one returned my call. Disappointing to join the other 1-star reviews (because it isn't possible to leave 0 stars). I've dealt with a number of financial services providers over the years, and this is the first time I've felt compelled to leave a review detailing the impossibility of reaching a customer service rep and of accomplishing a simple goal.Review from Greg H

HORRIBLE service. It shouldn't take two weeks to make a transfer from a company 401k to a personal IRA. In the time of ETF's and wires, this should take 3 days max! When I complained, the answer was, this is our std process. Well fix the outdated process! They apparently couldn't care less. and this wasn't from the peon. The worst company I’ve dealt with. They keep charging you for work they barely complete and you have to do all the data collection. Their data sets are not updated so you have to start from scratch with the census every year. After plan termination in May 2023, due to sale of my business they charged me twice for plan termination and yearly services in full. A bunch of thieves!!!Review from Frank C

The worst customer experience imaginable. 1.5hr hold times to speak with the "Customer Care Team" should be the we dont care team. The supervisor/specialist shutting down my companies account specialist... did not even think that kind of wait was a bad thing.... plus the company drags its feet with endless excuses why they cannot distribute the $ to my employees and terminate the plan.... oh and charge 1800 dollars then cash the check and then say they didnt get it for 2 weeks after it cleared. Poorly run, miserably administered and managed company..... I would NOT sign up for their services..... They bought PAI which was a GREAT company and have ruined the experience. Too bad I cannot give ZERO stars.Review from Jonathan J

Got them all the information needed for filing my Form 5500 eight months ago, and they still haven't done it. These people are terrible. They rarely respond back to email in a timely manner. They do nothing else in a timely manner. I literally don't understand what they believe they do to earn what I am forced to pay them.Review from Brad A

This company is a third party company that has no customer service skills and does not care about humanity. There business ethics out poor and they tell you the same story everytime you call them they leave cases unfinished for months never use future plan cause your future will be a disaster if you use this company.Review from Chris G

This is the letter I sent to them: Hello, I have wanted to move my 6 College Choice Accounts from my broker to a direct plan to avid the high fees of investment. I mailed all 6 of the applications together in one envelope to the address specified by your company. After a while, I found that only one account had been transferred. I called to inquire about the others and they told me to " give it time." That was well over a month ago. I did that. Nothing happened! I called again and was informed to resubmit everything. I told them that if they have one, they had them all, whereupon they checked the mailroom and found 2 more. I wanted to talk to a supervisor and was informed that nobody was available and they would call me back in 24-48 hours. That was last week. I am still waiting. Your staff is very efficient in blocking information where I could find out who is in charge of College Choice. I finally found out who is in charge after searching on the internet. If I send you money in confidence, I have to feel confident that this is a legitimate business that operates with transparency. Why can they not tell me who the boss is? I called again yesterday on a different number that I found on the internet, and Monika found two more applications in the mail room. Now we are still missing one. She also told me her supervisor would call me within 24-48 hours. I don't think sending in new forms is the answer. I am having doubts about your plan working well because of the inefficiency so far. Since College Choice plans are limited by my state, I don’t have the option to go to your competition. I need to look into who else I can contact. I am having doubts about sending money to you or getting money out at some point in the future. If you have such a disaster of a mailroom, I don't know if it is a good business decision to have you manage money for my grandchildren. --Review from Michael M

I strongly urge anyone reading this to not do business with this crooked company at all. If they somehow bought a company you were associated with, leave as soon as possible. These people set up a retirement plan for me in late 2022 and yet tried to charge me administration fees going all the way back to January 2021. They obviously did nothing during that. Because the plan didn’t exist, but they sent me to a debt collector within 14 days of me refusing to pay a bill but I did not understand. I ultimately closed the retirement plan just to get away from this crooked rotten company. Stay away from this company!Review from Quentin M

I became a Future Plans by Ascensus customer when they took over Swerdlin and therefore my employer sponsored 401(k). I left that employer and Future Plans (who has now outsourced admin to someone called "Empower Retirement') made is painfully difficult to rollover my 401k to a different provider. The website doesn't even make an allusion as to how to effect this transaction and getting someone by phone requires a miracle. I finally connected to someone named Carrie Martinez that was able to help me but she seems like a rare instance as I called probably 10 times over 5 months. Part of their business plan is clearly to preserve AUM by making withdrawal administratively difficult. Someone with some regulatory authority needs to do something about them. It felt a lot like I was dealing with thinly-veiled crooks hiding behind poorly-staffed call centers and customer gas lighting as a business model.Review from Harlie S

The absolute worst. Good luck cashing out your 401k ..Everyone in this company acts like they’ve never spoke to you before because they don’t even take action when you want to cash out. Most incredible experience I’ve ever had. Complete INCOMPETENCE.
