I would give zero stars if i could, i prepaid 1 year of insurance through them and I sold my truck after only 8 months, they are still billing me 2 years after i sold it, sent them a copy of the bill of sale and signed their paperwork stating the tag was cancelled. Now they are trying to send creditors after me for insurance I didn't ask for on a vehicle I don't own. Talked to them twice and they said they would handle it.Review from Kerri M

The non-profit that I run had a General Liability insurance policy with Philadelphia Insurance for about 12 years. Our premiums ranged from $2200 to $2800 over the years. In 2022, we were notified that our premium was going to now be $ 7,342.80. This is not something we could afford so we no longer wanted coverage and didn't want to renew our policy. Now, Philadelphia Insurance say that we owe them the $7000+ and has now sent this matter to a collection agency. They are forcing a small non-profit to pay for an insurance policy that we never wanted. This is an unfair and predatory practice.Review from Blake H

We are writing this letter in regard to a complaint we have against Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company. Our company (Federal Logistics, Inc.) had our surety bond with Philadelphia Indemnity for the last 6 years with no claims or incidents. We have pristine credit and have never had a surety claim filed in 20 years of business. On February 23,2023 a trucking company filed a frivolous claim with our surety bond. We responded later the same day to the claims rep regarding the claimants breach of their contract with us and were told it was going to be reviewed and they would be back in touch. The following day we saw on Safer Systems our bond was being terminated. There was no notification from Philadelphia Indemnity or our agent JW Surety Bond Consultants. Our company was completely disrupted by their actions. Philadelphia Indemnity took our premium and offered nothing in return. There was no review , or help given to us on this matter. Our agent JW Bond Consultants should of never placed our surety bond with such a fly by night company. After this happened to us I started looking at their reviews and saw other brokerage companies have had similar experiences with Philadelphia Indemnity . It appears the surety bond we bought from Philadelphia Indemnity was a scam policy. We are saddened to write this letter but hope that good companies like ourselves will not be taken advantage of in the future. We are asking for an investigation into Philadelphia Indemnity business practices regarding issuing fraudulent policiesPhiladelphia Insurance Companies Response

Philadelphia Insurance (PHLY) received a claim against Federal Logistics, Inc.’s bond on February 21, 2023. On February 23, 2023, Federal Logistics notified PHLY that it disputed the claim in part. On February 24, 2023, PHLY issued a notice of cancellation of the Bond due to claims activity. By its express terms, the bond provides that such cancellation does not become effective for 30 days, thereby giving the Principal (Federal Logisitics) a sufficient period of time in which to resolve the claim and request reinstatement without any lapse in coverage. On February 27, 2023, Federal Logistics informed PHLY that after consultation with its legal counsel it planned to pay the claimant the full amount claimed. On February 27, 2023, PHLY informed Federal Logistics’ bond agent that it would reinstate the bond given their apparent resolution of the claim. It was our understanding that the claimant received Federal Logistics check on February 28, 2023 and we requested that the claimant advise us when payment had cleared the bank. On March 1, 2023, having not heard back from the claimant, PHLY sent correspondence to the claimant advising them that it would close the claim in 7 days if no response was received. On March 1, 2023, PHLY was advised that Federal Logistics had obtained a bond from a new bonding company on February 28, 2023. As nothing further was received from Claimant as of Wednesday, March 8, 2023, PHLY sent an email to Federal Logistics’ bond agent the next day advising them that it was closing the claim.Review from Elizabeth R.

Claimant/Carrier submitted its bond claim and we requested documentation necessary to determine coverage under the bond. The Claimant/Carrier’s Broker-Carrier Agreement with the Principal/Brokerage expressly requires the Claimant/Carrier to obtain a signed bill of lading as a condition precedent to payment. Claimant/Carrier failed to produce a signed bill of lading as was required by the Broker-Carrier Agreement. We advised the Claimant that an “Amazon Internal POD” could be obtained by carriers from their local Amazon Center upon request, and that we would reevaluate Claimant/Carrier’s claim should it tender such documentation prior to the expiration of the statutory claims period. As of this date, Claimant/Carrier has not provided any such further documentation for our reconsideration.Review from JAMES V

Thank you for providing feedback regarding your recent experience with Philadelphia Insurance Companies. This customer's most recent invoice dated November 2022 clearly reflects total amount due if paid by ACH/check and amount due if paid by credit card. This is the ability to not assume the 3.5% credit card fee by paying via ACH/check. Our goal is to provide unsurpassed customer service and we are sorry we couldn’t meet your expectations.Review from Chase E.

Dealing with a claim right now where we are trying to fix a property in Fairbanks, Alaska and we literally have been waiting on getting paid for what seems like forever. They hired a 3rd party company as a consultant on a $400,000 claim which is pathetic. The whole process is such a joke. Worst insurance company in 12 years of business we have ever done business with by far.Philadelphia Insurance Companies Response

Philadelphia Insurance Companies customers report a 97% satisfaction rating for claims handling. The complaint is not a Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company (PIIC) Customer, he is a contractor hired by our insured customer. All payments are issued directly to the insured and the insured will need to pay their vendors.Review from Lars H

Absolutely the WORST claims handling department. Their insured caused damage to my vehicle. After several weeks they sent out an adjustor who took photos etc and advised me Philadelphia would have his report in a few days and then they would issue me a check.( approx. $2,000) Weeks went by and although i sent several requests for updates all I got was " were investigating" or the claims person( Christina ) was on vacation. Finally left a message for a manger ( Kevin ) was also on vacation but he did call me when he returned to advise me they were denying the claim in spite of the facts !!. If anyone is considering securing a Philadelphia policy I would strongly encourage you to find another carrier. This company stinks !!Philadelphia Insurance Companies Response

Philadelphia Insurance Companies customers report a 97% satisfaction rating for claims handling. The complainant is not a Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company (PIIC) Customer, he is a claimant attempting to make a claim against our policyholder. Despite his complaint(s), he was not involved in the accident (it was his wife). Through PHLY’s investigation and security camera footage, we learned this individual’s wife crashed into a condo association security gate. The driver failed to stop at a security gate and for a stop sign, while attempting to “piggyback” through the security gate behind another vehicle. The driver did not make it through and struck the gate. PIIC’s customer (policyholder) is in agreement with PIIC’s decision to deny liability to complainant as the damages were caused by the vehicle operator’s actions.Review from Joshua R.

I just went round and round with Philadelphia Insurance customer service. I should have done research prior to using their services because multiple platforms show reviews of 1.5 to 2 stars. Personally that's more than they deserve. I only used them for personal trainer insurance from 2020-2021. Today I checked my mail and received a bill of $25.00 for a late fee. I was told two things by their customer service that doesn't make any sense to me. First, they said personal trainer policies automatically renew. To which I asked how does a policy renew without a payment. When I signed up for the policy I had to pay before I received the service. How does that change once the policy expires and needs to be renewed? Then I was told that because I didn't pay for another year and didn't respond to previous mail that my policy was cancelled. This again makes no sense at all to me. If my policy was cancelled, how are you charging a $25.00 late fee? They tried to charge me the late fee but not the actual fee? I am so confused. This company is so horrible that they need $25.00 "late" fees to stay afloat. In my opinion this is borderline scam. I paid my year for personal trainer insurance, if I needed it the next year I would have made that clear. Don't tell me it's an automatic renew so that you can squeeze money from me.Philadelphia Insurance Companies Response

Thank you for providing feedback around your recent experience with Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY). PHLY does have an automatic renewal process for fitness trainer policies, but as a courtesy the late fee was waived for this customer. An auto renewal letter was sent 60 days prior to the current policy expiration date. There was no response from the insured, so the policy was renewed. If PHLY would have received a response requesting a non-renewal, the request would have been honored. The late fee and cancellation was a result of the auto renewal. Our goal is to provide unsurpassed customer service and we are sorry that we couldn’t meet your expectations.Review from Jamie W

I have had coverage for my classic car for the past 5 years with Grundy, through Philadelphia Insurance Companies, I had always thought that they were a very good company. One that cared about their customers and their customer's vehicles. Recently, after getting a dent on my classic car, my claim was denied. The denial letter stated that the appraiser confirmed that the damage was due to poor workmanship and/or a manufacturer's defect, and as such, they will not cover the loss as they consider it normal wear and tear. How can a dent possibly be considered normal wear and tear? How can a dent be considered either poor workmanship or a manufacturer's defect? I have six figures invested into a five-year professional restoration that was started 10 years ago and finished 5 years ago of this vehicle, I simply cannot believe that poor workmanship or a manufacturer's defect is to blame for the dent. Certainly, poor workmanship or a manufacturer's defect would have shown up prior to this, especially considering that the part that is dented was manufactured over 50 years ago. When I try to contact the Claims Supervisor, Joseph Zampogna, I always get his voicemail. He claims he will return your call as soon as possible, however, I never receive a callback despite me leaving him numerous messages with my name, phone number, and claim number as his voicemail requests. I will not give my business to any company that makes arbitrary, irrational claims decisions like this. If they won't cover a dent what do they provide coverage for? Run, don't walk from this company for collector car insurance coverage!Philadelphia Insurance Companies Response

Thank you for providing feedback around your recent claims experience with Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY). PHLY’s Claims Supervisor replied within 24 business hours to Mr. W*******’ inquiry about his claim and spoke to Mr. W******* directly. Mr. W******* reported a ding to the right side headlamp pocket of his classic car, but was unsure of how or when the imperfection occurred. PHLY sent out an auto damage appraiser with more than 40 years’ experience to inspect his vehicle. Our appraiser found that the imperfection occurring to Mr. W*******’ vehicle’s right side headlamp pocket was also occurring to his left side headlamp pocket in the same exact location. With his years of experience and some research, our appraiser found that both headlamp pockets have a connecting bracket directly behind both imperfections that connect to the respective side fenders. Our appraiser concluded that the imperfection was not a dent but a failure of the pot metal. This issue would be considered a manufacturer’s defect of the pot metal and/or a workmanship issue due to overtightening of the bracket, but ultimately not a covered insurance loss. Our goal is to provide unsurpassed customer service and we are sorry we couldn’t meet your expectations.Review from Monica A.

Legitimately the worst company I have ever had to deal with. One of their clients fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into my car, making my car not drivable. This happened OVER one month ago. It took me one week to finally get a human to answer my multiple phone calls and messages, and then they claimed to do things they never did. They even claimed they’d send an appraisal agent to my car but when I called the appraisal agency myself, they hadn’t yet heard from the insurance company. After my car spent 10 days at the shop, I finally heard my car was ready for pick up but I never received the check for payment. The body shop had to call and ask them to void the first check and send a new one directly to the body shop. It’s been 8 days since that check was allegedly issued but the body shop still hasn’t received it. Also, they lied and said it was issued the day before it actually was. Meanwhile, I am being called by the car rental company saying Philadelphia Insurance Company won’t continue paying for my rental. I literally call and email daily and have not spoken to a human on the phone in 3 weeks. So disgusted with this company.Philadelphia Insurance Companies Response

Thank you for providing feedback around your recent claims experience with Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY). Our records reflect we received notice of this auto accident on 6/29/21 and once it was confirmed our insured was legally liable for the damages to the claimant’s vehicle, a rental vehicle was provided on 7/1/21. PHLY continued to provide payment for the rental vehicle until it was confirmed that the payment for the supplemental repair estimate was received by repair shop. Our goal is to provide unsurpassed customer service and we are sorry we couldn’t meet your expectations.
