Brenden F***** ###-###-#### (*******************) of Heartland Retirement group in Johnston IA transfer my parents IRA to an annuity in May 2021 with Sentinel insurance (Brenda R**** email ***************************).and my parents were happy with his service. Now that both are in hospice care in Minnesota and we need the money they have stopped replaying to emails. We have filled out all the requested forms in September 2023. As of October 5 both Branden and Sentinel have stopped returning emails. Over a month and 4 emails with no response. I'm afraid my parents have been scammed. Father has dementia and Mother is wheel chair bound with oxygen so office visit for them next to impossible. Their account numbers are ************* ************* and they are running out of money.

I have just received my latest statement for my larger annuity and was surprised to see the value go down. I looked closer "Income fees" had increased and "Interest" was zero. I have given quite a bit of thought on that zero because I am using the daily average which should mean that in a volatile year I should hit the cap. My reasoning is that every positive daily rise is added and then divide by the number of days of trading. Just FYI 252 days in most years. So for example if day 1 is -5% and day 2 is +3%. Repeat for the whole trading cycle so that it goes down 5% 126 times but up 3% 126 times, the daily average for my annuity should be +1.5% even though the S&P index would have gone down 252% (not possible but you get my drift). So, I don't have the energy to pick my way through the data for the last year but the S&P 500 did go up overall and so my annuity should have some net gain. Maybe not enough to cover the fee but at least something. I am waiting for someone to check things out.
