      I was charged too much for a surgery I had at this hospital on March 13th 2023. My account was credited the overcharge amount, $483.24. On May 22nd 2023 I received a letter to my MyChart account (online account) that I would be refunded the overcharge amount. The $483.24. The letter was signed by *********************** in the ***************** Services Department. After about 6 weeks, I never received the refund so I called **************** asking what happened to my refund and she said she had no idea she had posted the letter to my account because no refunds were going out, but she could not tell me why and why it had been typed up. She said she would contact the accounting department then get back to me, but of course she never did.

      We are in receipt of the complaint and are investigating the issue. Refunds have to be certified by a member of our accounting team before they are eligible to be sent out. Unfortunately the system creates and sends the refund letters before a full review is completed. This can take up to ********************************************************************************************************************************************* the letter. I will be reviewing the case in the coming week with our comptroller and chief financial officer. We are processing this as a formal complaint and anticipate we will have resolutions within ***** days. I can be contacted at ************ if you have specific questions, However please note that I am currently out of the office tending to a family emergency and I should be back next week.
