I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my ownership at North Star, which has become increasingly problematic and unsustainable. When we initially purchased the timeshare, we were assured that maintenance fees would remain fixed and affordable. However, these fees have steadily increased over the years to an unmanageable level, creating significant financial strain on our family.Additionally, our use of the timeshare has been extremely limited, and the expenses associated with ownership far outweigh the benefits. Despite this, we have been offered no reasonable pathway to terminate our ownership without incurring additional fees. The mutual release program currently offered includes a $1,750 fee, which is simply unaffordable given our financial situation and the ongoing burden this ownership has imposed. We feel misled about the true costs and conditions of the timeshare at the time of purchase and are now left in a situation with no viable way out. I am seeking assistance and intervention to resolve this issue. I kindly request that North Star provide a fee-free option to terminate our ownership, considering the misleading information provided and the financial hardship caused by this arrangement.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and assistance in reaching a fair resolution.

Mr. ****** has contacted our office through telephone, email and correspondence which has always been replied to. He has received assistance with vacation exchange planning with his timeshare. When requested he received information regarding North Star Vacation Club's owner options for relinquishing ownership. Mr. ****** is and has always been aware maintenance fees are subject to change. A mutual release is offered to all owners in good standing who do not choose to sell or transfer their ownership. A standard fee of $1,750.00 is currently offered and may be budgeted to assist the consumer. Currently, Mr. ****** owes for his 2025 maintenance fee which is now in collections significantly increasing the original amount billed. North Star would offer to waive the 2025 maintenance/collection fee and budget the release fee of $1,750.00.

I stayed at this resort from August 1- August 4, 2024. Upon check-in, I paid a $50 security deposit as well as a $55 cleaning fee. The security deposit was never refunded to me. I spoke with the resort three time and was given different answers. 1. It would take 10 business days for the security deposit to be released. It has been 16 days since I checked out 2. I would need to contact my bank to find out why the hold was not released. I did this, and the bank indicated that the resort put this through as a charge instead of a hold. They initiated a dispute on the charge.3. The security deposit was not returned because the sheets were soiled. Neither at the time of check out, nor during the first two calls was I informed of any problems with the condition of the room. It was only after I posted a poor review on TripAdvisor that they expressed this. This is the second time that I have stayed at this resort, and the second time that I have had to contact them repeatedly about getting the security deposit refunded. I had the same issue in 2022, and was refunded only when I emailed them several days after returning. This business is obviously trying to pocket the security deposit and hoping that visitors will not notice that the money was never returned. In addition, the front desk staff at the resort was extremely rude during the third phone call and none of their listed email addresses are valid. It seems like they are making it different for consumers to reach them
