Issue occurred 09/03 Signed contract for full synthetic roof replacement. Mid construction I noticed that the valleys were installed incorrectly, as the company had merely cut through hollow shingles leaving the hollow edge exposed, thus exposing clearly that this shake was fake and cheapening the aesthetic. The same on all dormers.I advised Hardesty of this & that the Brava shingle contact I spoke with stated that there were two methods for install, which they quote on every deal. Double W flashing & use of a solid shingle. Hardesty first stated the manufacturer didnt offer the solid shingle, then walked this back when I sent the link to their website & advised I spoke with their VA rep. **** then stated they would give me two options, pay an additional $6800 for solid shingles or $3900 for them to reinstall the copper flashing correctly. **** installed the roof improperly, per the shingle manufacturer who stated he quoted both options & trained them on install, yet want to charge me for the improperly installed flashing and cost to replace it. The original agreement was also to replace the roof to look like the original shingle of my current roof so the solid shingle should be the only option, despite their clear ignorance around the product and incorrect ordering. The communication between departments has been terrible and I even provided a two week extension upfront to obtain their quote, so they had extra time to make sure the quote was accurate. Ive also just learned they didnt order enough material, delaying our job with a half finished roof for two more weeks. Whats more we agreed upon full copper flashing, and was told after work begun that white aluminum drip edge would be used & copper was additional cost. I the homeowner had to point out the improper install, find the fix & send the instructions from the installers website & still they want to charge me to correct their error. Unacceptable, they do not stand by their word or work.
