      Unprofessional Conduct and Predatory Loan Offer from PenFed/Tresl Auto Refinance Representative To Whom It May Concern:I am writing to formally file a complaint against PenFed Credit Union regarding my recent experience with one of their loan officers during a car refinancing inquiry.After speaking with a PenFed representative about refinancing my vehicle loan, I was presented with an offer that appeared to lower my monthly payment. However, upon closer review, the loan terms were objectively worse:A higher APR (7.89% vs. my current 6.77%)A much longer loan term (84 months vs. 50 months)An additional $899 fee for ************* A requirement to lower my insurance deductibles, increasing my premiums by $14/month When I raised these concerns, the loan officer became dismissive and unprofessional. He minimized my research, attempted to justify PenFeds reputation by saying all banks ****, and questioned my current lender **************** despite them having a much higher BBB rating and a solid reputation.I ultimately canceled the application due to the officers unprofessional communication and the clear predatory nature of the offer. I later confirmed that PenFed is not accredited by the BBB, holds a 1.19/5 customer rating, and has over 200 complaints - which only validated my decision.This kind of experience raises serious concerns about PenFeds sales practices and the conduct of its representatives. Consumers deserve to be treated with respect and transparency, especially when making significant financial decisions.I respectfully request that PenFed review this complaint and address the conduct of the representative involved. I am open to providing further documentation, including email correspondence, upon request.Sincerely,KM

      Absolutely the worst. Put in an application, the rate given to me was literally a point higher than what's on the website. **************** told me they have no idea who gets what rate. I said I have 830 credit score, she said that's great, but we have no idea as to how what rate you get is determined. You can't tell me why my rate is a point higher than what you're advertising? Didn't even offer to see if anyone else could help me. Horrible, DODGED THAT BULLET!

      had a CD maturing and was told check could be sent by ***** and found this was not correct, very poor with info and it was costly to me.

      Generally good experience, but NY residents should know that PenFed does not actually follow the policies that their own webpage describes.*************************************************************************************** When I refinanced my auto loan with PenFed, they required me to send my NY vehicle title. This caused no end of headaches when I attempted to trade the vehicle in -- without my copy of the title, no dealer would accept the PenFed-financed vehicle as a trade. Instead, I had to pay off the loan in full and wait (apparently up to 30 business days) to get the title back. I don't doubt that PenFed will return the title eventually, but this experience will prevent me from financing with PenFed in the future. NY residents (and the handful of other states with similar laws) beware. PenFed has competitive rates, but the headache may not be worth it.

      Never again. One of my biggest regrets. I cant wait to pay this car loan off. Rude, unprofessional customer service. Employees cant t seem to complete simple tasks like applying loan payments as instructed. The CEO is worth billions of dollars and his common customers are treated unprofessionally. Typical for this time era. Every month I find myself arguing with this company about a simple principal payment. Just recently they illegally took out interest from my principal payment. I notified them to be met with rudeness and unprofessionalism, resulting in an argument. Whom wouldnt argue the point, it is coming out of my pocket, not theirs. Im doing what I should paying the loan off, the legal thing to do. While they continue to attempt to get as much interest as possible, even if it means providing inadequate service to their customers. The worst company I have ever dealt with. I only wish I read these reviews prior to dealing with them.

      My Mom is 84 years old and lives in a nursing home. The family sold her house to pay for her stay in the facility. ******** performed an audit of her file because of the home sale, which was explained to us as routine. We provided all the documents and then a statement from PenFed arrived at my sister's home (where mail was being forwarded to) stating that balance in an *** account was $5.03. We sent the document to ******** and they stated they needed statements from December 2022 through December 2024. We contacted PenFed and explained the situation and all we asked for was the statements for the requested time frame. I had my Mom on a 3-way call with PenFed and she answered their questions to verify identity and they asked if they could send a link to the her cellphone and do a "visual verification." We stated she had a basic cellphone and can't do that. We tried to add her cellphone to the account and ********************** stated we had to submit Power of Attorney documents in the mail, but upload 2 separate signed and notarized forms as well. The *** couldn't explain the forms to me when I asked questions, and all I want is for them to sent statements to the ******** ***resentative. That's it. I'm trying to get my Mom approved for ******** because we don't have money. She has $5 with PenFed, not millions, but they treated us as criminals. They wouldn't let us update the phone number on file after explaining the old number no longer existed since the house was sold. They don't care, and because of their lack of assistance my Mom was denied ******** since they did not receive all of the statements. I honestly don't know what will happen to my Mom . I know this review will likely go nowhere but at least my pain is documented now and I pray no one else is denied ******** when hitting roadblocks like this from companies who won't do the simple things of providing statements as requested by their customers. ********************** is horrific for their actions and in doing more harm to people.

      Not a good Credit Union. I had an account here and they blocked Zelle for no reason. I sent money to my father, that was all it took for them to block the feature (only $300). No only that, they are very controlling with your money. With purchases limits. I do not recommend this CU, Navy Federal and BECU are better credit unions, they also allow you to send 2k+ via Zelle per day. Only good thing about PenFed, is that you get paid to days early, but nowadays, even banks like ******* offers that and they offer a enhanced MasterCard where you can spend more with your debit card in comparison to PenFed. I dont see the ** as members owned, I rather do business with a local bank.
