My son has completed 5th and 6th grade with Keystone. His local school did not challenge him. 5th grade was awesome. The school provided everything we needed, right down to the musical sticks and goggles for Science class experiments and a once a week online session with the teacher and other students. Sixth grade was much different. You are pretty much on your own. No materials are provided. For Language Arts the stories( some of the are classics) they have to read are online in one book but we ordered a paperback version for $3.00 for our convenience. The grade card is right there for you too see anytime and it is upgraded every Monday. I have never had a issue contacting a teacher or the school. They have always reached right back to me quickly and in one instance, the head of the school emailed me within 2 days. As a parent, you really need to keep your child on the schedule you set. If you are way off point, the school will send you a warning. So for the downside if you are considering this school. Overall, the assignments were okay. There are a few inconsistencies like the rubric's do not always match the teachers so you have to double check, you have to know your way around Power point or publisher programs, we thought the tests were fair. Sometimes you will see a type O. It is pricey, $300 a class but if you need the flexibility, that is the price you pay sometimes. As of today it is not a tax deduction but is said to change next year. Who knows .It is self guided program but if you as a parent are ok with teaching or enhancing some subjects, especially Math,you should be ok.
