    Company uses deceptive practices to mimic IRS website. Filed an EIN application because their website was the first one that came up doing a search and it was not obvious that this was a fraudulent website setup to scam people out of money. Company does not answer phones.

    Attempted to obtain *** electronically on 6/3/22, via web site I thought was the official *** web site. The name "***" appears in the web site name and in the heading of the web site when you open it. Also next to "***" the web site logo is remarkably similar to the official *** logo. These deceptive tactics mislead the consumer into paying $250 for a service the *** provides for free. In my case they never delivered on sending me the the *** number and certification letter to the business Email account or junk mail account. After not receiving the number, the same day, I called Tax ID Supports customer service line and after reaching Desk 0 and hearing elevator music for 15 seconds I was disconnected twice. I also filed a complaint and requested a credit via their customer service text box but never received a response to that either. On 6/6/22, I contacted the *** directly and obtained an *** number and certification letter for free immediately. I have since filed a fraud claim with the ***, a complaint with the **** and a complaint with the State of ********* ********** of ******* who referred the complaint to the Consumer Affairs **********. They wrote a letter that Tax ID support did respond to basically indicating they met their obligations, and yet the business Email never received the *** or Certification letter, nor were personal complaints ever responded too. I subsequently called the *** and the agent I spoke to said a second *** was applied for presumably by the third party, but no exact date could be provided and the actual *** and Certification letter is to be provided to the original applicant by the third party assuming they check the correct box on their application on behalf of the originator. Apparently that never happened and I received nothing in return for $250. Just as important, Tax ID Support's use of "***" and logo likeness whether intentional or not, mislead the consumer.

    We received your application on 06/03/2022 at 9:49 AM CST. At 10:07 AM CST your application was processed and sent to the email address on file: *****************************. Also, a letter was mailed to the address on file as well on 06/04/2022. We never hear anything from you. You never contacted us by phone or by email. Proof of this was sent to your state. Our website goes in detail of who we are, what we do and why we charge a fee. Once we have assigned an active EIN number, we cannot cancel the application.

    I used their website to obtain a federal tax ID number believing it was an IRS website. My Mastercard was charged for a free service as a result of their deception.

    We received your application on 05/11/2022 at 5:39 p.m. CST. At 5:43 p.m. CST an email was sent out stating we needed to make your Trust name more unique. The email came from [email protected] and our signature on the email states "Tax ID Support". We received no response from you and a second request email was sent to you on 05/12/2022 at 8:30 p.m. CST. At 12:03 p.m. CST we received a response with the updated information and processed your application. At no point did you request to cancel the transaction. We never stated that we were the *** or any government agency. 

    Once we have assigned an active EIN number, we cannot cancel the application.
