    On December 12, 2022, I went to a website that appeared to be the **** I applied for an EIN number and was charged $250.00 to establish an EIN for my mothers estate. Upon going to the bank, I was told that there is no charge for creating this number through the iRS and that it was a scam website. I was charged $250.00 by Tax ID Support. I was led to believe that this site was the *** and not a scam site. I am appalled that this company would take advantage of people trying to settle the accounts of their deceased loved ones. I would like to have my charge disputed and refunded.

    As shown on your screen shot you have provided the link is irs-federal-ein-number.com. This is not ***.GOV. Each page of our website states that we are not the *** but a Third-************** We also explain that you can file for your EIN number at no charge through the ***.

    This is a fake company disguised as the federal government. They charged me 250 twice.

    ***** started an application in August 2022 with the *** for a federal tax ID and found out there was a problem. ***** googled for a phone number and the first website that came up was Tax ID Support. ***** called it, thinking it was the support line for the ***. They offered to fix the problem for $250 and charged him. When ***** informed ************************* while later of what transpired, ****** informed him that the company he called was not ago with the ***. ****** called the *** and got the issue fixed for no charge. Then ****** called back Tax ID support and explained the misunderstanding. As Tax ID support had provided no services, they agreed to refund the money. However as of December 2022, the transaction is still pending and the refund has not been received.

    This company is posing as though they are the **** The websites and verbiage does not make it clear that it is not the **** Therefore, I thought I was filling out the free application for a federal EIN number. I put in my SSN number and other demographics before getting to a credit card page and then realizing it was not valid.

    Deceptive, fraudulent practice. The business, https://irs-tax-id-ein-gov.com/********/ has irs and gov in its name, which fools many people in the thinking that it is the **** When you search for EIN and IRS in ******* ****** puts this companys advertisement on the top of your search results, and their business name and advertisement fool people into thinking that they are the **** This business charged my father $250 for an EIN number that would have been easy and free to obtain directly from the government. There is a small and deeply buried notification in their process indicating that they are a third-party vendor, but that is not good enough. They need to add a large and conspicuous notification on their landing page that they are not the **** and that EIN numbers can be obtained for free directly from the ****

    I am rejecting this response because: my father and my family are indeed concerned about the $250. It is unfair because it is easy to be fooled by the name of the company into thinking that one is on the actual government website. And if my father had been on the actual government website, he would not have paid $250. There are reviews from many users complaining of the same thing. The business should return the money to my father and update the website to make it much clearer what the user is really getting into.

    I was charged to register my new business' EIN. Feel this is a fraudulent service site that should not be allowed to make themselves representative of ***.gov website. Feel I was intentionally misled and maliciously redirected to their site. I never clicked on their site, I simply followed all the prompts. This "business" should not be permitted to infiltrate the *** website like they have.

    Hello! On May 31st, 2022, I was excited to request an *** (Employer identification number) for my consulting business (LLC.) I typed in '*** ***' into ******* and clicked on the website that popped up. I paid $250 for the *** because the website said it was the **** As I was doing additional research, I found that there is absolutely no charge to get an *** number from the **** I was quite shocked and disappointed, and felt that I had been scammed. Once I realized that I had been charged erroneously, I called back using the number that was provided on their website: ************. When I called, I spoke with *****. I explained to her that I found out that requesting an *** number from the *** is free and that I would like to request a refund. She indicated that she could give me $100 back. I told her that was unacceptable, and that my next call would be to the BBB, because this was not right and I felt that I had been scammed. ***** then told me to call my bank/credit card company and dispute the charge, and that they would cover the charge. ***** then indicated they would await the call from my bank. My bank called, but Tax ID support declined to provide a refund that they had promised. Yet another scam.Thank you so much for your help. Please let me know if I may provide any additional information.

    What's the process?
    Step 1: Select your entity type and fill out our questionnaire.
    Step 2: Our agents will check for errors or omissions and process your request with the ****
    Step 3: Our agents will email your EIN as well as your official IRS document. You may also download your document from our website once it's been processed.
    The filing process for a new EIN or Tax ID Number can be confusing for non-professionals. We work directly with the **** on your behalf, as your Third-Party Designee. If there are any issues that arise from the information you have provided, we will work on correcting the information and making sure your filing is done in a quick and correct manner.

     

    You stated that you were offered a refund of $100.00. Our records do not show a refund was offered to you in any amount. But, if you were offered a refund of $100.00, you stated in your complaint that you told ***** that was unacceptable. This means, you were not accepting any form of refund back unless it was the full amount which was explained to you over the phone. 

    Our records show that you called requesting a refund and we explained that we could not cancel the application. You told ***** that you were disputing the charge. We let you know that we will wait to hear from your credit card company. 

     

    Your credit card company called us on 08/10/2022 regarding your dispute. We explained to your bank that a refund of $100.00 was not offered and we explained to your credit card company who we are, what we do and why we charge a fee. Again, no refund was offered to you when you contacted us.

    I am rejecting this response because: This response is  inaccurate and dishonest.  ***** did, in fact, offer $100 to me. She urged me to contavt my credit card company, and that when the credit company called, they would refund the charge. Shame on you for your deceitful dealings. You will not succeed by deceiving and scamming hard-working people. I pray God will change your ways and help you to see the terrible impact your business is having. Please refund my money and cancel the EIN.

    I went to file for a EIN number for my business and clicked the first link ****** provided. I entered sensitive information such as: Social Security number, Name, address, business name, LLC information, etc. The next page said that my information was submitted but I needed to make a $250 payment to receive my EIN number. I did not make a payment. I realized the website was not credible. I do want to stress that the information that was "submitted" had very sensitive information on it so I am very worried of fraudulent activity.     I went on a website to apply for a EIN which I thought was the government website. The website has a logo that makes it look like the government website but it turns out it was not the government.

    I am rejecting this response because: the website serves no purpose but to mislead consumers who are Misdirected to their website when trying to reach the government *** website. They do not provide a service that expedites receiving an EIN as an EIN is provided immediately when going through the **** This business does not assist in any filing questions, as it merely appropriates the questions on the *** website and puts it on its own website. This website profits solely from preying on the unsophisticated consumer. There is NOTHING on the front page of the website to clearly indicate that this is a third party. Again, the website does not provide ANY service. Its entire business model is based upon confusing consumers in an area that is often complicated and unfamiliar. Multiple reviews online establish that hundreds of consumers have been victims of this website falsely believing that they were in the *** website.

    Website URL is misleading and scamming individuals out of money. When I clicked on the link, it looked like I was clicking on the ".gov" website, possible DNS attack. The *** provide the same service for free, they have in small letters about this on their website which is impossible to see on a cellphone.I contacted via email and was told to call the number for my complaint however you can't get a hold of anyone and it just hangs up.

    Our website explains in detail who we are, what we do and why we charge a fee. We have over 5 pages worth of information explaining the process to obtain an EIN number and that you can file directly through the *** at no charge. You spoke with a representative through email, where they explained that everyone was on the phone with the ***, or they were assisting other customers. It was also explained that once we have assigned an active EIN number, we cannot cancel the application.

    I am rejecting this response because:  The website they are tying to scam, mislead and trick people out of something that is free, they do this with having "***" and "GOV" in their URL.  They ARE NOT the *** or GOV and are misleading people by this tactic. I thought I was apply with the *** AND NOT A 3RD PARTY collecting my personal information and then providing the same information to the ***.   How is this company protecting my PII that I tricked into providing?   This is totally unacceptable of a company attempting to scam people out of their money.  Their website asks the same questions as the *** website, and they have in small print at the hidden at the bottom of their page about the 3rd party.
