      We contracted with Ambit Energy a 36 month term on 03/21/21 at an average price of 11.0c. The average price began climbing on 08/05/21 (2312)- 12.01c; 09/XX (XXXX) - XX.3c; 10/XX (XXXX) - XX.5c; 11/XX (XXXX) - XX.0c; 12/XX (XXXX) - XX.3c; 01/XX ( XXXX) - XX.5c; 02/XX (XXXX) - XX.1c; 03/XX (XXXX) - XX.5c; 04/XX (XXXX) - XX.0c; 05/XX (XXXX) - XX.4c; 06/XX (XXXX) - XX.4c. These figures are the billing date, usage and average price. I called Ambit Energy several times to protest these price spikes and I was told the cause was *** charges from CenterPoint Energy. I called *********** Energy who explained that TDU charges are computed as a whole and sent to the service provider who in turn shares same to it's customers. *********** also explained how their charges are computed based on actual usage. I need a factual explanation of these price spikes and a refund where none is forthcoming.

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/21) */ Dear BBB Staff, Thank you for notifying us of Mr. ******'s concern with Ambit Energy as referenced above. Ambit Energy has completed its research and investigation into complaint #XXXXXXXX and has documented its findings and actions taken with respect to this complaint. A review of the account shows that Mr. **** ****** is enrolled for services with Ambit Energy for the commercial business of ***** Executive Suites LLC for the service address of **** Snake River ** ***** TX XXXXX under the Texas Small Commercial 36-month term with a fixed rate of 6.90¢ per kWh. Contract documents do inform the customer the average price rate will depend on the actual monthly usage (billed at the fixed rate of 6.90¢ per kWh) and demand charges passed ** the TDU. Record show that the customer was been billed correctly in accordance with the usage reported and current enrolled product. No adjustments are warranted. The customer is able to view the usage reported through their online My Ambit Account ("MAA"). Sincerely, Ambit Energy Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Ambit response does not explain or justify the spikes in my bills. The company has made a vague reference to demand charges by the **** I shall therefore lodge a formal complaint with *********** Energy ****** Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2022/08/04) */ In reference to the additional information received, Ambit Energy contends that the customer has been billed correctly in accordance with the usage reported and account product. No adjustments are warranted. The customer is able to view his usage details through his online *** account along with past usage and billing history. The customer is encouraged to contact our customer service department for payment assistance if needed. Sincerely, Ambit Energy
