Longhorn Foundation performed foundation repair on my house, damaging the front stoop in the process. At the time on 11/6/23, ********************* informed us that Longhorn would cover 50% of the repair. I submitted an estimate of $3275 but have yet to receive a response from Longhorn Foundation.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/26/2024

    In response:

First, I would like to say that Longhorn regards very highly their relationship with each and every homeowner and takes very seriously any and every complaint.

    That being said:

Longhorn did not just do accidental damage to the homeowners stoop(porch) as the homeowner puts it but did at the request of the homeowner cut out 2 sections of brick & concrete from the stoop (porch) & install the 2 piers, but the homeowner omitted most of the relevant facts.
The entire truth is that the homeowner had a massive plumbing leak that caused severe foundation issues, hired a structural engineer who came out and determined that due to the foundation issues that there needed to be 2 piers installed in the homeowners stoop (porch), and then contracted Longhorn to break out the 2 sections of brick & concrete & thus cause damage the stoop (porch.)
After the repair the homeowners husband did have a conversation with Longhorn regarding the stoop (porch.) The porch was in poor condition, not just the two sections that Longhorn had to cut out for the pier installation but most of the porch was falling apart not caused by anything that Longhorn did and needed replaced. Longhorn suggested to the homeowners husband that it would probably be cheaper & save the homeowner money to have the 2 sections that were cut out for the pier installation and the whole porch redone at the same time.
Neither during this conversation nor any subsequent conversations was the homeowner, or her husband ever told by anyone at Longhorn that Longhorn would pay for 50% of the repair.  The homeowners husband was told that if the entire porch and the two sections that Longhorn cut out were repaired together that Longhorn would be glad to help pay for it but only the portion of the repair where Longhorn cut out for the 2 piers to be installed would Longhorn pay for. He was not told that Longhorn would pay for 50% or the entire stoop (porch)
Longhorn usually bills the homeowner $100- $350 per section of porch or patio when installing piers & has to replace the brick & concrete after pier installation.
The help the homeowner Longhorn did send a brick ***** out to visit with the homeowner to see about repairing the stoop (porch.) The brick ***** did provide an estimate of $1500 to do the repair to which the homeowner decided that she did not want to accept.
The homeowner afterward did send another estimate to Longhorn to have the repair done that was for $3275 and demanded that Longhorn reimburse her 50% of the total. She was told again that Longhorn was not going to pay for 50% of the entire stoop (porch) repair but that she would be contacted &given an amount.
Longhorn, once again trying to help the homeowner contracted another brick ***** to go out and give an estimate for the repair which took a couple of weeks due to the holiday. Upon return the homeowner contacted Longhorn and told them that she would file a complaint if they did not respond and to her demand of Longhorn paying 50% of the entire repair. Longhorn did call her to let her know of the brick ***** heading to her home, however she had already filed the complaint and told Longhorn that she had already had the repair done per the estimate that she had sent.
It is very unjust for the homeowner to request that Longhorn pay for any more than especially after refusing to have the work done at half the cost and being unwilling to have another bid.
Longhorn would like to continue their relationship with the homeowner however and is happy to reimburse the homeowner for Longhorns part of the repair, which is up to $350 for each of the two sections that the homeowner asked Longhorn to cut out so that piers could be installed or $700.
